Our next meeting and support group will be on Thurs., Sept. 15 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. This month our guest speaker will be Kimberly Spiegel (photo inset). She has been the Education, Outreach, and Operations manager for the Alzheimer's Association for the past six years. Kimberly has dedicated the last 20 years to working with the senior population in the Coachella Valley through non-profit organizations, aiding the elderly and health-challenged. Having been exposed to Alzheimer's in both her and her husband's family, she has first-hand experience with all stages and consequences of the disease and all of its consuming and challenging conditions. Her office provides education, care, support, information, and referrals for caregivers' families, friends, as well to those with memory loss. Her topic will be Understanding Alzheimer's and Dementia – The Basics. Don't miss this powerful guest speaker. She has valuable information for you. All caregivers are welcome! We have another program in the Arts & Craft Room that will care for your loved one while you enjoy the meeting. Please don't leave him or her home alone. We are right next door in the Arts & Crafts Room. We offer live entertainment, games, and fun. No one is forced to participate. We will do whatever needs to be done to entertain your loved one so you can relax and enjoy the meeting. If you think your loved one isn't ready for the Arts & Craft Room group just yet, you might be surprised. Sometimes they feel more comfortable chatting with others like themselves. Give us a try; it's a free program and we care about your loved one. If you would like to learn more about Memory Loss, we have educational, care, and support information and referrals as well as reading material that we can loan you. Call Diane at (951) 769-0130, Doug at (360) 840-5559, or Anne at (951) 845-8700. Remember, we are here to help. | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2022 | 41 Caregiver Support Group Suddenly we have been having more Monday holidays than meetings. First, there was the Fourth of July and now Labor Day on the first Monday of September; so, once again, no meeting. But, to avoid embarrassment — should you forget and show up at 1 pm in front of the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room — just say you were reminiscing while thinking about all the good times you had there. Then, you can simply step one door to the right and enter the paperback library where you can find a great selection of summer reading. As we all move closer to fall, meetings will begin again at 1 pm on Mon., Oct. 3, back in the Multipurpose Room; and, if you have been utilizing all this time to improve and perfect your writings, the October meeting will be a doozie! So, stay tuned; keep on writing; and hang on until 2023 when we have been promised to have two meetings a month. If you would like more information on the Creative Writers, you can call Roger Smith at (951) 769-2808.
