| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2022 | 53 Hello all you fellow Sun Lakers. I hope your month of August was a great one. And of course, I hope your September will be even better. As I look around at our fabulous Sun Lakes village, I am happy to see more activity at our clubhouses. That's great. However, I also want to express a little word of caution. Yes, it does appear that maybe we have the worst of COVID behind us. However, as you all know, the virus is still much alive and causing sickness. So please remember to keep all the precautions in your mind and daily activities. Now on to much more pleasant thoughts and comments. So here is a list of the special September days this month: International day of Charity – 9/5 Teddy Bear Day – 9/9 Grandparents Day – 9/11 International Day of Peace – 9/21 National Lazy Mom's Day – 9/3 VJ Day – 9/2 National Bald is Beauty Day -9/13 Wife Appreciation Day – 9/18 Talk like a Pirate Day – 9/19 Ask a Stupid Question Day – 9/28 Now on to some important stuff. If you have been reading our past few months' articles, you already know that the RV Club's next outing is Oct. 9 - 14. Where you ask? The club will be meeting at the Pismo Coast Village RV Resort. Finally, we want to celebrate our September birthday members. A great Happy Birthday to Terri Weitz, Lisa Kemp, Diann Granllund, Karen Fitch, JoAnn Taylor, Bob Walter, Vicki Tennis, Bruce Granllund, Kathy Hoeke, Lyndon Taylor, Randy Eden, Bill Wiliams, Derek Wood, Pam Drummond, and Ray Pena. May you all have the greatest of birthdays, and may your family and friends buy you lots and lots of very expensive and fun gifts. Have a great September. The Summer Bocce Tournament is nearly over with only the play-offs yet to be played. The Fall Tournament will begin the week of Sept. 12; entries must be in by Sept. 2. Playing times will be the same as the Summer Tournament, 5, 6, and 7 pm, for the first few weeks of the fall. As the weather gets cooler, we will go back to Spring times, 3, 4, and 5 pm, 6 pm if necessary. Your schedules will reflect the time change. Our Bocce 101 Learning event was well attended both by new players and some of our faithful (I don't want to say 'old'!) veteran players. It was an interesting day. Hopefully it served its purpose in bringing new people to our sport. We are planning an Italian Dinner on Sun., Oct. 23, for all our members. It will be held in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Doors will open at 5:15 pm, meeting is at 6 pm, and dinner at 6:30 pm. The club will pick up most of the cost of the meal. You can reserve a spot for yourself at the Dinner with a $5 donation. Hope to see you all there. We will have more details in the October Lifestyles. Please plan to attend if possible. It will be an inexpensive and enjoyable time together. Friends of Bocce
