Though played on a smaller court, with a different paddle and 20 percent deflated tennis balls, POP Tennis is otherwise scored and regulated like traditional tennis. POP Tennis is played on the courts to the left of the Main Clubhouse on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8 to 10 am (spring/summer hours). Additionally, there is a group that plays Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 3 pm and Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday evenings from 6 to 8 pm. People are free to come and go as their schedules permit. All are welcome and there are always friendly folks to teach beginners the game! Paddles and balls are provided too. The dues are used to plan parties, tournaments and buy balls and paddles. Hope you'll POP by! This is week 11 of 16 and as we head towards the finish line, the competition is heating up. Many teams are still in the race for first place. Anything can happen and it usually does, but right now the top three teams are: in first place is Optimist with Caroline Gagnon, Leo Gagnon, Bonnie Greene and Jerry Kelly. Second place is: Brooklyn Bombers with Ed Sterger, Connie Matty, Louise Deal and Tom Tykodi. Third place is: In the Hunt with Jon Skaggs, Lil Mclean, Bob Mclean and Mike Sheptenko. The season high scores are, for the Men: Steve Harsany has a Handicap series of 774, Bob Mclean has a Handicap Game of 304, Andy Toro has a Scratch Series of 718 and Mike Sheptenko has a Scratch game of 264. For the Women: Kathy Duerr has a Handicap Series of 721, Sherley Bourland has a Handicap Game of 273, Sallie Flesher has a Scratch Series of 553 and Theresa Frelix has a Scratch Game of 219.
