Do you plan on preparing Thanksgiving dinner at home?
Would you be willing to welcome a young Marine from Camp
Pendleton into your home to share your meal? Most of these
young Marines are in Basic Training and this is their first
Thanksgiving away from home.
We have volunteer hosts for 26 Marines so far, but the bus
holds 56. We would like to have a few more volunteer host
families. This has been a tradition at The Colony, and they
are most grateful to have the day off base to share in a home-
cooked meal.
The bus picks the Marines up at 9 am at Pendleton, and they
arrive at the Clubhouse at approximately 10:30 am, where you
will pick them up. You then return them to the Clubhouse by 4
pm for their return to Pendleton.
If you wish to make Thanksgiving Day a special day for a
Marine — or maybe two — please give me a call. You'll be
happy you did, and so will your guest Marines!
I would like to thank Denise and Robert Sturm who
volunteered to be the co-chairs for this event with me.
