| THE COLONY NEWS | SEPTEMBER 2022 | 31 Jack & Jill What a day for golf! The July event is in our rear-view mirror. All could agree on one thing for sure, that the weather could not have been better with a cool morning start and a cool breeze at tournament's end. The tournament of July 14 fielded 40 golfers vying for first place position in the "A & B Format" competition. It is always a spirited event, and a hotly contested one. When the tournament was over, the following posted winning positions for the contest: Winning Teams "A" Flight 1st: 46.271, Troy Townsend, Billie Denney, Jerry and Pat Caldera 2nd: 48.264, Terry Lundquist, Vicky Cornille, Joe Cwirka and Marge Anderson 3rd 48.868 Larry Determan, Sunny Park, Gary Wilson and Linda Peterson "B" Flight 1st: 44.814, Greg Griffes, Judy Lebovitz, Rich and Bea Brown 2nd: 45.605, Robert and Denise Sturm, Jim and Ellen Bonnet 3rd: 47.813, Bruce and Ann Hartwig, Leo Pasco and Peggy Clendenen Closest to the Pin #5 Women, Barbara Crosdale – 37'1" / Men, Robert Sturm – 12'9" #15 Women, Sunny Park – 7'11" / Men, Jerry Caldera – 5'5" #16 Team #14 Greg Griffes, Judy Lebovitz, Rich and Bea Brown – 15'2" DARWIN AWARD Although your Humble MC/CEO had quite a number of "snitches" and "finger pointers" with many candidates, I was unable to settle on those nominated from the floor. Thus, the DARWIN went UNCLAIMED for July. Our next contest is set for Thursday, Sept. 8, and will be our "Regular Scramble." As with all Jack and Jill events, you DO NOT have to be a member of either the Men's or Women's Golf Clubs to play. Just pick up your sticks and join us for the fun and friendly competition.
