| THE COLONY NEWS | SEPTEMBER 2022 | 33 Open play tennis is picking up. It's each Saturday (except the third Saturday) of the month from 7:30 am to 9:30 am. Everyone is welcome to play. There is no need to sign up, just come down with your racquet. If you can bring a can of balls, great; if not, come anyway! Any of John Knitter's players who are learning are welcome to come and play or practice with different players. It will help you up your game. Open Tennis Saturday By Jeanne Bender, 949-295-5412 Our Summer Bowling League was short but sweet. We had our awards dinner at Richie's Diner on Aug. 4 and had a great time. I encourage all who would like to bowl in our upcoming Winter League to sign up. It starts on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 1 pm. We have a fun time and good exercise, and we even have a bowling poker game every week. It is a non-trophy league; we pay out in all CASH! It is also a handicapped league, so all have an equal opportunity to win money and enjoy team success. Here are our Summer League winners: Team Championship was won by Gloria and Steffan Carroll with a record of 22-10. With a vacant position, "Ball Busters" won 2nd place with Sheila Spralding, Dottie Hodson and Lynn Ennes, and 3rd place went to "Game On" with Ali Holland, Andy Sciacca and John Haller. Women's High Game Scratch had Lynn Ennes with 200, Women's High Game Handicap had Haydee Ciccone with 240, Women's High Series Scratch had Jerry Hanson with 529, and Women's High Series Handicap had Gloria Carroll with 635. In the Men's Group, High Game Scratch was Hank Fleischer with 254, High Game Handicap was Bo Hansson with 242, High Series Scratch was Ralph Sanzari with 619, and High Series Handicap was Ken Kurator with 649. Women's High Average was Jerry Hanson at 164.52 and Men's High Average was Hank Fleischer at 178.33. Most Improved Bowlers were Ken Kurator +4.96 and Lynn Ennes +7.67. A lot of statistics I know, but that's league bowling. I look forward to seeing you all in our Winter League. Bowling By Hank Fleischer, 714-272-3684 Come join us for Thursday Bocce and socialization! If you have family or friends visiting, you may bring them along to participate also. It's fun and easy to learn. Bring your snacks and choice of beverage and play a game or two or three. Water and ice are always provided. Bocce By Jeanne Bender, 949-295-5412
