FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2022 31 Hello friends! The following are some issues the Safety Committee has been addressing: Projects in the works: • Continued evaluation and completion of safety suggestions identified for The Lodge, The Summit, and The Courts. • Mitigation of trip hazards on the sidewalks around Four Seasons Circle and at the Potrero and Crooked Creek gates. • Proposed scheduling of CPR/AED training later this year. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) provides the following guidelines if you or someone else is having a stroke. During a stroke, every minute counts! Fast treatment can lessen the brain damage that strokes can cause. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF A STROKE: • Sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking, or difficulty understanding speech • Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance, or lack of coordination • Sudden severe headache with no known cause Call 911 right away if you or someone else has any of these symptoms. Act F.A.S.T. to help stroke patients get the treatments they need. The stroke treatments that work best are available only if the stroke is recognized and diagnosed within three hours of the first symptoms. Stroke patients may not be eligible for these if they don't arrive at the hospital in time. If you think someone may be having a stroke, act F.A.S.T. and do the following test: F—Face: Ask the person to smile. Does one side of the face droop? A—Arms: Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward? S—Speech: Ask the person to repeat a simple phrase. Is the speech slurred or strange? T—Time: If you see any of these signs, call 911 right away. Note the time when any symptoms first appear. This information helps health care providers determine the best treatment for each person. Do not drive to the hospital or let someone else drive you. Call 911 for an ambulance so that medical personnel can begin life-saving treatment on the way to the emergency room. By knowing the signs and symptoms of a stroke, you can take quick action and perhaps save a life – maybe even your own! If interested in helping to make Four Seasons a safer community, please consider joining the Safety Committee. No prior safety experience is required, only a desire to contribute to the enhancement of our neighborhood. Yes, you can make a difference! The Safety Committee continues working to enhance the safety of our community. As a reminder, Safety Committee meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 10 am in RCN Conference Room. We encourage you to join the meeting should you have any concerns or if you would simply like an update on our ongoing safety projects. All the best. ~ Frank Hilberg, hilberg frank@gmail.com Safety Committee SAFETY 4 "ALL" SEASONS Facilities Committee At our last meeting, long-time member John Baeyertz announced that he is stepping down from the committee. We would like to thank John for his commitment to the Facilities Committee. John's hard work will be missed. We received a request to install an electrical outlet at the Veterans Park. We asked maintenance to look into the feasibility of the request. A Landscape Committee representative updated us on the back fountain project and said Landscape Committee members will be voting on the project at their next meeting. We approved the re-slinging of patio chairs to the lowest bidder. There was a request for new fencing at the cul-de-sac of Saddlerock due to the steep grade. We voted for two signs to be posted. The Facilities Committee is in need of new volunteers. If you are interested, please contact me or attend our next meeting. We meet the second Wednesday of the month at 9 am in the RCN Conference Room. ~ Gino Domico, Gdomico@gmail.com
