30 | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2022 | Your Travel Club Board is very excited about all the activities and trips we have planned. Here is the lineup for the remainder of 2022. Sept. 12 - Our Club Social Hour always begins at 6:30 pm with light refreshments in Abravanel Hall. Our programs always start at 7 pm. Our guest speaker for this night will be Will Reese from AFC Vacations. Our Club always enjoys hearing about their trips because they offer pick up from and back to your home! Oct. 10 – After our Club Social Hour, Club members present will elect the Club Board for 2023. Then Callie Dean, our Club President, will present highlights from her African Safari, with a focus on the conservation of the animals. Oct. 13 – We're off to Los Angeles where we will tour the newly opened Academy of Motion Pictures Museum and the Petersen Automotive Museum. Lunch is also included. This trip is SOLD OUT; wait list only. Nov. 14 – Join us in Abravanel Hall for our Travel Club Annual Party. The theme is Americana! Dec. 12 - We're traveling to Riverside for a lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory. Then we'll enjoy a guided tour of the historic Mission Inn. We'll also have time to view over four million lights decorating the Inn and its grounds, 200 animated figures, and elaborately decorated Christmas trees. This trip is SOLD OUT; wait list only. Complete information about each of our trips and our Annual Party can be found on the flyers in the Clubhouse when all the details have been finalized. Regarding our Wait Lists, we frequently have people on a trip whose plans have changed and need to cancel. So, many people on our wait lists actually do get the opportunity to go on the trip, replacing those who cancel. Getting on our Wait List is like signing up for a trip. Make out your check to OH Travel Club, with proof of vaccination attached (if not already submitted) and put it in the Travel Club Envelope at the Clubhouse Front Desk. Add $5 to the price if you are not a member of the Travel Club. We certainly hope you will come and join us at one of our events or trips! On Nov. 19, the Woodchucks, Garden Club, Sewing Club, Chorale, and Veterans Club are joining ranks to put on a holiday celebration. Let's envision the smiles and excitement of the enlisted families as they celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah! The Woodchucks will gather their handcrafted heirloom toys from trailers, attics, garages, and burrows to set up the magic of the holidays in our OHCC overflow parking lot. The toys are the products of the entire community, including our master toy builders, artists, seamstresses, and all those who have donated monies for the raw materials, and special gifts. Outside our walls, cabinet companies donate wood supplies, and Home Depot gives us discounts. This allows us to serve our neighbors at Camp Pendleton. Please join us with your donated gifts on Nov. 19. ~ The Woodchucks… "Serving Those Who So Bravely Serve Us."
