42 | OHCC LIVING | SEPTEMBER 2022 | Calorie Free Happy Hour If you are interested in improving strength, flexibility, endurance, balance, and overall body conditioning, then you may want to consider attending an aerobics class to see if it fits your needs. This is an all standing low impact class… NO JUMPING! Christine leads each class in a warm-up session followed by the aerobic session, and then she does a cool down. We use light weights for the last 10 minutes of the class. Christine sometimes adds a few exercises for balance and an easy dance for fun. Classes are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in Abravanel Hall from 10 to 11 am with instructor Christine Alesiani. You can choose the number of classes each week that you would like to attend. (There is no class available on the second Wednesday of each month.) The cost is $5 cash per class paid directly to the instructor. You can pay for and try two classes without joining the club. The annual club dues are $6 (please make the check payable to OH Aerobics). Please contact Margie Raisigel (Club President) if you have any questions at (760) 855-8838 or sungee@pacbell.net. Aerobics Golf Club July was a busy month for the Golf Club. On Wed., July 13, 150 people attended the Golf Club party on the lanai. Everyone enjoyed the delicious food catered by Flavorchef and the peppy tunes of The Buckleys. The General Membership Meeting on July 20 had a huge attendance. The major news of the meeting, of course, concerned our golf course's reopening. Bob Fisher revealed that the front nine could begin play around Labor Day, and that Men and Women's tournaments could resume in October. Unfortunately, the back nine will be closed until the lake is finished, which might not happen until late into 2023. A number of us participated in the Touring Amateurs Tournament held on Mon., July 18 at St. Marks Executive Course. Gobs of golfers were rewarded for their excellent play. The lowest gross of the tourney (-9) was achieved by Greg Cies, Gary Forsberg, Michael Gordon, and Adrian Verduzco. Closest to the pin winners were Natalie Sentz and Martin Adams. And a lot of shot makers hit the magic circle: Larry Bean, Hal Bolton, Bill Boston, Tex Burke, Al Fried, David Hyde, Steve Malone, Bob St. Laurent, Scott Taylor, Mike Thornton, Tom Vaccaro, and Walter Weber; Carol Dergan, Nancy Gayvert, Darleen Kelch, Diane Miller, Peggy Singh, Phyllis Skall, and Charlotte St Laurent. Brother, that must have been a big circle, not large enough for me to hit, though. Oh well! Until next time. Great news. Beginning Sept. 9, Senior Fitness Club Chair Yoga will be three days per week! You will now be able to exercise Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11:15 am in the Hall with our Instructor, Cheryl Todd. The charge is $5 for each class attended. In addition, you will also have Sr. Fitness Club-Chair to Mat with Instructor, Tatis Cervantes-Aiken on Tuesday mornings at 8 am in the Lamina Room. There is no charge for this class, since Tatis is a resident. Both Instructors are well qualified in their field. Hope to see you in class. Senior Fitness Club
