14 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | OCTOBER 2022 Resident Restaurant Reviews Recently the committee has been asked to resume reviewing local restaurants. We decided it would be great if we tossed this to the community for input. We sent out an alert blast asking residents to submit reviews on local-ish restaurants. Happily, we have had a number of responses so without further ado we present Resident Restaurant Reviews! By Dave and Georgeann Wellfare, Residents We experienced this restaurant by accident initially. After playing golf, we stopped into the restaurant for lunch. Being right at the golf course, and close to home, was a plus. The facility is open for breakfast from 7 am to 2 pm daily and for lunch from 11 am to 3 pm. They have happy hour from 3 to 6 pm Monday through Friday. If Bloody Marys or mimosas are a favorite of yours, they can fix you right up. Or perhaps a cold beer with lunch or a cocktail! The menu is quite extensive for a breakfast and lunch venue. Each order is plentiful and nicely presented. Their breakfast menu includes omelets, huevos rancheros, breakfast burrito (good size), eggs benedict, pancakes, and French toast to name a few. For lunch, in addition to some starters like onion rings, chicken strips, wings, there are super choices of large salads (Cobb salad, Caesar salad, chef salad, southwest chicken salad) – all plentiful and delicious! Their sandwich choices are also very good and piled high, with choice of sides. If you like burgers, you have several varieties to choose from. Also, very popular with a group of us who go are the French dip and the classic Rueben, plus there are more hot sandwiches to choose. This is our go-to restaurant after golf. The food, atmosphere, chef, waitresses and bartender are all great and have been there for a while. The restaurant is easy to get to and parking is plentiful. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you receive. Give it a try! We bet you will like it! They are located at 1537 S Lyon Ave, Hemet (only 3.4 miles from SDV). You can review their full menu at golfsevenhills.com. By Theresa Rossetti, Resident There's a new edition to the answer to the question "What is there to do in Riverside?" Aside from visiting The Mission Inn, the Fox Performing Art Center and/or the many fun shops and eateries, there's a brand-new addition to the Riverside Art Museum that you might want to check out. This past June the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture opened at the Riverside Art Museum (RAM), only a block away from the Inn. In case you don't recognize the name, Cheech and his partner Tommy Chong were some of the most prominent counterculture comedians of the 70s and 80s and both transitioned to acting later on. Richard "Cheech" Marin owns the largest collection of Chicano art in the world, having collected for the past 40 years. He has donated 500 of them to the museum. Aside from his own collection, the museum currently houses numerous pieces by other Chicano artists. As you enter, the first thing that catches your eye will likely be the 26-foot-tall lenticular artwork hanging prominently before you. A lenticular piece is art that changes as the viewer moves side to side. What you see is not stable, it depends upon the angle from which it is viewed. Along with that, and it is spectacular, the museum houses other paintings and dimensional pieces that catch the eye and make you think. The pictures I took do not do the displays justice, but I hope they might whet your appetite to see the real thing. Your ticket also includes admission to the Riverside Art Museum (RAM), a block or so from The Cheech. The RAM's exhibits change so what I saw, protest posters over the years primarily and a gorgeous series of cornstalks, might not be what you will see if/when you go. It's best to make a reservation before you go (www.riversideartmuseum. org or (951) 684-7111). Visits are timed to avoid overcrowding, senior admission is $10.95. If you happen to have an account at Bank of America, proof of that plus ID will get you in for free the first Sunday of every month. It is well worth the visit and street parking is free on the weekend! SEVEN HILLS GOLF CLUB RESTAURANT and Bar Have You Seen the Cheech?
