| LIFE IN SOLERA | OCTOBER 2022 | 3 FROM THE BOARD By Marcia Casem We would like to thank everyone who attended our September Town Hall meeting. Dan Jaggers, General Manager of the Beaumont Cherry Valley Water District, was our guest speaker. Between the two meetings, there were around 85 members in attendance. The main message was the state has requested that everyone should make every attempt to reduce water usage by 20 percent. We received a chart with information to help us achieve this goal. If you were unable to attend, there were copies of this and other information in the Mail Rroom. At our second Town Hall Meeting last month, we discussed a few ways to reduce the speed on our main streets and enable drivers to safely stop at stop signs. As this article is written prior to this meeting, we cannot report how this meeting turned out. However, it is extremely important that everyone should be aware of their surroundings, especially when walking. Please pay attention when crossing the street. If you see a car coming in either direction, it is a good idea to wait until that car has made a complete stop. Do not assume they see you and will stop. Many of us who are not waking a dog or walking with friends like to walk in the bicycle lanes. The DMV code says that you cannot walk in a bicycle lane if there is a sidewalk. We are not saying you cannot walk in bicycle lanes; we are saying to walk facing the oncoming traffic. The drivers are more likely to see you, and you can see them coming. You will also be able to see bicycles and Electric Personal Assistive Mobility Device (EPAMD), also know as motorized chairs. These are allowed to use the bicycle lane. We would like to thank those who have read the Design Guidelines revisions who made corrections, additions, deletions, and changes during the 28-day review period. This review period is required by law. The additional revisions have been made, and the Design Guidelines have been made available to the members for another 28- day review period. At the same time, the Community Rules have been made available for members. Please read them and submit any revision to the General Manager. Both Design Guidelines and Community Rules are available on our website and hard copies are available at the office. Thank you for your time and efforts to make Solera Oak Valley Greens a community to be proud of.
