| THE COLONY NEWS | OCTOBER 2022 | 5 HOA STAFF PROFILE: KARA HARDY By Joanne Deacon Wearing various hats throughout the years, Kara has touched literally all our lives. She's currently in charge of "Fun" at The Colony, supports various clubs and committees, researches and submits requests for projects such as our new phone system, and schedules bus trips to local events as well as cruises. She's also one of our "Techie" experts and can also find any expert for presentations you can think of, i.e., from a doctor who gave us a presentation on the medical uses of marijuana to the Hawaiian dancers at the Committee Appreciation Luncheon! Knowledgeable, creative, friendly and gracious - that's our Kara! In Kara's own words… Hey Colony friends! It has been a privilege to work with you all for the last 17 years. I was hired on as an entry-level administrative assistant, back when there was only one other full-time office employee (Kimberly), the GM, Activities Director (Christy), and one part-time employee. I worked with the Landscape Committee, Architectural Committee (Hi Mr. Millican, I miss you), answered the phones, and I even took Board minutes while Kim was on maternity leave (that wasn't fun). I always found ways to help with the events and selling tickets and thought, Activities Director would be such a fun job! Well, when Christy moved to the OC, Kimberly told me to go for the position. I was scared and insecure, but Kim pushed me to take the chance. Wahoo, I got it! And I was right, it has been a super fun job — I love it! My husband Bray and I just finished a project renovating two homes and have relocated to the Temecula Hills with our two boys and my parents. I couldn't be happier about our move. Since July, we have started a garden; our first squash plants just popped out of the ground. We're raising 11 chickens; still waiting on the freeloaders to start laying eggs… Just kidding, I LOVE them! We also have two barn cats, who have never spent a night in the barn. We are on the road to being real farmers and making great memories along the way. God is good!
