14 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2022 The Garden Club was formed in 2019 to explore and evaluate locations for a community garden within Four Seasons. Although this purpose is still underway, the Club added bi-monthly free speaker events on gardening topics requested by the members to help us all be successful in any gardening projects. Members enjoyed talks by Riverside Master Gardeners on "Landscaping with California Native Plants" and "Growing Vegetables and Herbs in Beaumont." The very first social event in support of the newly formed Four Seasons Community Garden Club was held Sept. 2 and by all accounts was a resounding success. Although initially planned to be held outside under the stars, Mother Nature did not cooperate with severe heat warnings and so the party had to move to the Ballroom. The Garden Steering Committee brought the outdoors inside with lots of greenery and sunflowers on every table. Unique to this event was the collaboration with Stacy (Kopper Kettle owner) to follow a farm to table concept featuring fruits and vegetables. Eight different food stations spread around the ballroom eliminated long food lines and offered a delicious menu that included pork sliders with jalapeno coleslaw, lemon pasta, zucchini brownies, and lime gelato. Guests had the opportunity to take a photo of the recipe displayed at each station. Raffle prizes were generously donated by Gary Pitts, Cherry Valley Nursery, Park West and Mona Swinehart. Thanks to Dave and Janine Rohrbacker and Rich Wayne for expertly handling the sale of the raffle tickets. Many thanks to Irene Welker for donating beautiful sunflower napkins. The sold out crowd enjoyed the musical stylings of the Brad Malinowski Jazz Trio featuring singer, Kaylee Daugherty, and they surprised the crowd with a rendition of Ricky Nelson's "Garden Party." Many thanks to all our volunteers who managed the food stations and especially to the steering committee: Sandra Leoni, Kathy Miller, Mona Swinehart, and Pat Wayne. Don't miss our next event on Nov. 18 which will be followed by a holiday craft-making party offered by Park West. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the club, please contact Pat Wayne at pwayne1@outlook.com. Membership is free and will allow us to notify you of event opportunities directly.
