FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2022 25 Landscape Committee As we enter October, we are all hoping the heat will ease up and maybe, just maybe, we will see some rain to help with this drought we are currently facing. The Landscape Committee continues to walk most Fridays, except during excessive heat, to ensure Four Seasons stays beautiful and looks like the premiere community we all moved here to enjoy. Currently we are working within the water restrictions mandated by the state of California and look forward to seeing green turf again once it does finally cool down. We are defining areas where turf can be removed with as little impact as possible to the community and allow us to cut water and keep what turf we have left healthy. The Board is working with Park West, our landscape vendor, on renderings which I am happy to say are beautiful. The first two areas we are considering for turf removal are the pocket parks located on Mock Buff and Lucinda Terrace. These areas were chosen as they will allow us to remove significant amounts of turf while not taking on a more costly and larger project. We continue to look for other areas and do have a few other areas we are prioritizing as well. You may be wondering what the cost will be to the HOA. The Board is working with the Pass Area Water District (PAWD) to locate any grants that will be made available for turf removal. We have participated in workshops with the PAWD and are hoping to receive grants that we are told may be a one-for-one match. This will help considerably and should happen in the first quarter of 2023. Remember, any turf removed and replaced with drought-tolerant plantings will require much less water. The renderings above show the two pocket parks I previously referenced. Both will continue to provide room for walkways, seating, and gathering. The plants will all be native California drought- tolerant plants, shrubs, and trees, not cactus or desert-scape. The goal of this is to not make our community look like a desert. The Landscape Committee is always looking for new members. If you are interested or want to see what we do, we meet the third Tuesday of each month in the RCN Conference Room at 1 pm. We also walk every Friday at 7 am until October when we start at 8 am. Please join us; it's good exercise and there is always something to learn. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at (714) 722-1301. ~ Kathy Craven
