FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2022 31 Safety Committee SAFETY 4 "ALL" SEASONS Facilities Committee Residents at our last meeting discussed the Game Room chairs and tables. After discussion, staff was directed to find solutions for the issues that were brought up. We voted to approve the purchase of four new lights to replace current lights above the pool tables. We also approved a pilot project to re- stripe parking spaces to accommodate one car or two golf carts. The work is to be done by maintenance and in a small area in The Lodge parking lot. We again discussed the staining of the front of the Lodge. We arranged a trip to the Four Seasons in Hemet to view their solution. We need new volunteers. If you are interested, please contact me or attend our next meeting. We meet the second Wednesday of the month at 9 am in the RCN Conference Room. ~ Gino Domico, Gdomico@gmail.com Howdy! The following are some issues the Safety Committee has been addressing: Projects in the works: • Continued evaluation and completion of safety concerns identified for The Lodge, The Summit, and The Courts. • Mitigation of trip hazards on the sidewalks around Four Seasons Circle and at the Potrero and Crooked Creek gates. • Proposed scheduling of CPR/AED training later this year. NAVIGATING SAFELY IN OUR COMMUNITY The following reminders are being provided to help keep you safe while walking, driving, or riding in our beautiful neighborhood. Pedestrian Safety Tips: • Whenever possible, walk on the sidewalk; if no sidewalk is available, walk facing traffic. • Cross streets at crosswalks. • If no crosswalk is available and your view is blocked, move to a place where you can see oncoming traffic. • Look left, right, and left again before crossing the street. Make eye-contact with drivers of oncoming vehicles to make sure they see you. • Stay alert and avoid cell phone use and wearing earbuds. • At night or during early morning hours, wear bright and/or reflective clothing and use a flashlight. • Watch for cars entering or exiting driveways or backing up in parking lots. Vehicle Driving Safety Tips: Unsafe driving is the common concern and theme brought up by residents at our Safety Committee meetings. Here are a few reminders to help keep our community safe. • 25 miles per hour is the maximum speed limit on roadways within our residential districts. • 30 miles per hour is the maximum speed limit on Four Seasons Circle. • Stop at all designated stop signs… no California rolling stops. ("Rolling stop" is an oxymoron. Don't be an oxymoron.) PLEASE! • Yield to vehicles that have entered the roundabouts. • Yield to pedestrians. • No distracted driving! Put away your cell phones and other electronic devices while driving. Golf Cart Safety Tips: • Check or inspect your electric or gas-powered cart prior to operation (e.g., brakes, tires, horn, lights, mirrors, power supply cord and plug). • Ensure that all passengers are sitting in designated, permanently- installed seats. • Prior to starting the cart, look over both shoulders and check the mirrors to make sure that all passengers are fully and properly seated and ensure that pedestrians are away from the sides of the cart. • Obey all traffic signs and pavement markings. Never drive faster than it is safe. • While the cart is moving, ensure that all passengers are fully and properly seated and that all parts of their body remain inside the envelope of the cart. • Avoid standing water, potholes, bumps, loose gravel, or sand. • Yield to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. • Slow down and yield to cross traffic at all unmarked or blind intersections. Note: Do not allow children to drive your golf cart. Bicycle Safety Tips: • Obey all rules of the road. • Obey all traffic signs and pavement markings. • Be constantly aware of pedestrian and vehicle traffic. • Make yourself as visible as possible at night or in low-lighting conditions, including equipping the bicycle with a light and reflectors and wearing light-colored clothing or a reflective vest. Note: The riding of bicycles on any of the Four Seasons trails is not allowed. If you're interested in helping to make Four Seasons a safer community, please consider joining the Safety Committee. No prior safety experience is required, only a desire to contribute to the enhancement of our neighborhood. Yes, you can make a difference! The Safety Committee continues working to enhance the safety of our community. As a reminder, Safety Committee meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month at 10 am in RCN Conference Room. We encourage you to join the meeting should you have any concerns or if you would simply like an update on our ongoing safety projects. Also, please drop by if you are interested in joining the Safety Committee. ~ Frank Hilberg, hilberg frank@gmail.com
