FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2022 41 The club has screenings on the second and fourth Sundays of the month. We screen films you won't find at the big cineplexes: documentaries, indie films, foreign films and other little gems that don't get wide release. Our first screening for the month, on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 6 pm, is the film Radioactive (UK 2019, 1 hr. 49 min., English). Here is a brief description from IMDb.com: "The incredible true story of Marie Sklodowska- Curie and her Nobel Prize-winning work that changed the world." Our second screening for the month, on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 6 pm, is the film The Mystery of Marilyn Monroe: The Unheard Tapes (USA 2022, 1 hr. 41 min., English). Here is a brief description from IMDb.com: "Explores the mystery surrounding the death of movie icon Marilyn Monroe through previously unheard interviews with her inner circle." All of our screenings are followed by lively discussion about the film; we'd love to have you join us. The Lodge Theater has very limited seating, so if you're interested in our screenings, come early; we hope to see you there. Please note that all films announced are subject to availability. If you have any questions about the Counter Culture Cinema Club or want to recommend a film, please email Micki Rosen at michelesrosen@gmail. com. ~ Micki Rosen Counter Culture Cinema Club Classic Film Group Welcome to the Bates Motel. Check in is before 6 pm at The Lodge Theater on Oct. 25. The doors will be closed as the movie starts at 6 pm. After you check in, relax, take a shower. Phoenix office worker Marion Crane is fed up with the way life has treated her. She has to meet her lover Sam in lunch breaks and they cannot get married because Sam has to give most of his money away in alimony. One Friday, Marion is trusted to bank $40,000 by her employer. Seeing the opportunity to take the money and start a new life, Marion leaves town and heads towards Sam's California store. Tired after the long drive and caught in a storm, she gets off the main highway and pulls into the Bates Motel. The motel is managed by a quiet young man called Norman (who seems to be dominated by his mother). If you want to visit and stay at The Bates Hotel, take Interstate 40, now I80, West, out of Sacramento to State Hwy 12 ,South, to Fairvale. Then drive to the neon sign at the Bates Hotel at 4019 Old Highway Road, Solano City. It's best to call ahead for reservations. The new area code is (707). The last time I was at the hotel it was still there after 62 yrs on the back-lot at Universal Studios Hollywood and people were and are still standing in line waiting to meet Norman. PSYCHO was a new and very high standard in horror film at the time which I don't believe has ever been equaled to. P.S. Please do not give away the ending. Happy Halloween! We are getting new singers every month and we are really growing and bringing some awesome music for all to enjoy. Some of the singers will be participating in the November 11th Veterans Day twilight ceremony as well. Again, you don't have to sing if you don't want to; you can still come out and enjoy the show with your dinner.
