10 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | OCTOBER 2022 Safety Committee: Safety For ALL Seasons Our Four Seasons community has it all… a friendly environment surrounded by beautiful landscaping, hiking trails, along with a whole host of activities available at The Lodge, The Courts, and The Summit. Safety is one of those factors which is often taken for granted by our residents but not by the Safety Committee. What does the Safety Committee do anyway? We work as a team to reduce risk and mitigate hazards within our community by: • Conducting monthly Safety Committee meetings to evaluate safety issues • Partnering with other committees and FirstService Residential to review and resolve safety issues • Conducting safety inspections to identify safety hazards • Looking at past incidents and "near misses" for areas on which to focus • Providing recommendations to reduce risk • Gathering feedback and evaluating safety concerns raised by our residents • Providing safety and health information in our monthly Breeze article What are the qualifications to join the Safety Committee? There are no set qualifications or training to be a member of the Safety Committee and you do not need to be a safety professional to join our group. Our committee is currently comprised of individuals who have a wide variety of experience from diverse backgrounds, including: the airline industry, military service, law enforcement, nursing, social work, retail management, and theme park safety/ operations. We are simply seeking residents who have a heart for making our community a safe and risk-free environment. Mostly, we are looking for individuals who have a common commitment to making a difference. Why join the Safety Committee? There is satisfaction in knowing that by identifying and correcting safety issues we are contributing to the health, safety, and well- being of not only our residents, but also of visitors who enter our community. While you may never know how many people you have helped to avoid injury, you can be certain that you have made a difference. How do you join the Safety Committee? Just come to our next Safety Committee meeting and express an interest in joining our small but mighty band of volunteers. We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 10 am in the RCN Conference Room. We look forward to welcoming you to our team. ~ Anita Worthen, abird82@aol.com; Frank Hilberg, hilberg frank@gmail. com FEATURED VOLUNTEERS L-R: Mike Corbett, Jerry Monahan (Board Liaison), Geoffrey Wilson, Stephanie McDow, Eric Zarr (FirstService General Manager), Anita Worthen, Frank Hilberg (not pictured: Donna Gilbreth and David Sweet, Board Liaison)
