10 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2022 | By Kara Lukasik The holiday season is right around the corner and it's great to see everyone getting excited. I am looking forward to all the exciting events planned for this year and into next year. With that in mind, I want to remind everyone that clubhouse space is limited and must be reserved through the Recreation Department. Please note – if there is no one in a room, it does not mean that it isn't reserved. We are experiencing an increase in the number of parties and gatherings in our clubhouse spaces and what was once always open on any given day and time is no longer the case. With the increase in events, there may be times when it is necessary for the team prepare the clubhouse before the set-up time on your room request. This usually occurs when additional events are scheduled in another clubhouse that need to be set up at the same time. If you see a room empty and you want to use it, call the Main Clubhouse at (951) 845-2191. We'll review what is scheduled for the day and give you the available options for your gathering. All of us in the Recreation Department look forward with assisting you to ensure that your event is a successful one. The Recreation Department is making a smart phone photography class available on Oct. 8 and 15, 10 am to 12 pm. Please call the Main Clubhouse (951-845-2191) for more info. From the Recreation Director For info on all events, call (951) 845-2191 FALL GARAGE SALES Sales are 8 am to 4 pm. Residents are asked to have any remaining items that did not sell back into their homes after the garage sale. Dates and district participation are as follows: Oct. 1: Districts 14, 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23; Oct. 8: Districts 2, 3, 5, 7, 16, 17; Oct. 15 : Districts 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13. APPLE PIE SOCIAL Mon., Oct. 3, 2 pm, Sandwedge; $3 per person. Come join in the Sandwedge for an old-fashioned slice of apple pie hosted by the wonderful volunteers from the Recreation Advisory Committee. They will be serving up a slice of apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and, in keeping with our fall theme, we'll have coffee as well. EVENINGS ON THE VERANDA Join us on the Main Clubhouse Veranda the first Wednesday of each month, 4 to 7 pm, for some wonderful entertainment. The multi-talented Renee Rojanaro will be on the Veranda performing at her favorite place. So please join us and enjoy some great music and dancing. We'll see you there on Wed., Oct. 5 from 4 to 7 pm. All other Wednesdays are the normal Happy Hour events. COMMUNITY SHREDDING Fri., Oct. 7, 9 am - noon, Main Clubhouse parking lot, $5 per box. Do you have boxes of paper lying around taking up space? We have a solution for you. I-Shred will be in Sun Lakes on Oct. 7. This is a great way to get rid of those confidential papers you no longer need without having to drive to a place and pay a large fee. Shredding will take place from 9 am to 12 pm or until truck is full. No sign ups required, just show up with your boxes (max five per trip). COVID VACCINE Fri., Oct. 14, 12:30 to 4 pm, Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Riverside County Health will be offering the Pfizer & Moderna vaccines. Appointments are not required, please bring your vaccination card. LIFESTREAM BLOOD DRIVE Mon., Oct. 17, 7:30 am - noon, Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. To support Lifestream Blood Bank, we will be hosting another much-needed blood drive. The blood donated goes to local hospitals in our area such as Beaver Medical, San Gorgonio, and Loma Linda. Our goal is to have 30 people donate. Time slots are limited and walk-ins will be accepted based on availability. The blood drive will take place in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room.
