Many have asked about the name of our club and what ICC means. At one time, it was the acronym for International Culture Club and we spotlighted countries from around the world. The direction of the club has changed over the years and now we are simply known as ICC. Each month we have a dinner and a dance with live bands and music to celebrate different themes such as Halloween. Membership is $25 per person per calendar year. A "try before you buy" opportunity is available for Sun Lakes residents who have not been members in the past. Previous members do not qualify for this "try before you buy" opportunity. For more information about ICC, contact Evelyn Hawkins at (951) 845-7199, Martie Steggell at (951) 769-3217 or Donna Leone at (951) 797-0832. | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2022 | 31 Makua Hula Hawaiian Dancers The Makua Hula Hawaiian dancers have enjoyed a summer season of dancing. We performed within Sun Lakes for the Social Singles Club and for one of our districts at their luau. We also received a special invitation from the Palm Grove Healthcare nursing facility in Beaumont to perform which gave the Makua Hula dancers an opportunity to share the Aloha Spirit with their residents. The Highland Springs Country Club also extended an invitation for us to perform at their Labor Day luau. We feel privileged to be able to share our love of Hula dancing with those in our neighboring communities. Hawaiian dancing is a great form of exercise and if you would like to learn Hawaiian dancing or have never even considered it, consider it now and join us on Wednesdays from 10 am to 12 pm at the North Clubhouse and/or Saturdays from 8 to 10 am at the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. We are always looking for new members who want to join a fun group who love Hawaiian dancing, love to perform and who want to share in the camaraderie of our group throughout the year at our social events. If performing is not something you are interested in, you can still learn our dances without the pressure of performing on stage. If you just want to exercise and dance, come give us a try. Also, for those of you who have physical disabilities or limited mobility but would like to learn Hawaiian dancing, we offer you the opportunity to participate in our Hawaiian chair dancing class with the regular members on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are no monthly dues; a smile and good attitude is all that is required. There is no better time to start hula dancing than now. We look forward to having you join us. Our group is also available to perform for your events. If you are interested in having us perform, or want information about our group, contact Perla Williams at (951) 467-8339 or at pearlyshellsdancer@ gmail.com. ICC The Stardust Dancers Modeling Class just might be what you are looking for! Learning to put yourself out there does wonders for your self esteem. Both men and women are encouraged to give it a try! The classes are fun and informative. You will learn to project your presence and personality to an audience. Learn to communicate with your audience without saying a word. All routines are choreographed for the group by Evelyn Hawkins, who has taught modeling for many years. She has directed many stage presentations, pageants, and fashion shows. A stage performance is a goal of the class, but you are not required to perform. It is strictly your choice. Come check it out. Most classes are held on Fridays on the stage at 3 pm. A schedule will be available for each month. For additional information or to make a reservation time, call (951) 616-4542. You can text on this number as well. Stardust Dancers ICC members celebrated Halloween by dressing in costumes at a past Halloween themed event. Photo courtesy of Ed Avin-
