This is your opportunity to boo and hiss our villain, David Desboro Desmond as he woos the sweet Bertha and steals her fortune. Performances: Oct. 27-30 on the Ballroom stage. Tickets are $15 pp in advance and beer, pretzels and popcorn will be available. AUDITIONS for "THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT" – Oct. 4 Calling all singers, dancers, actors, comedians and magicians… Auditions for "That's Entertainment" will be held on Oct. 4 at 2:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Performance dates are Feb. 23-29, 2023. Audition pieces should be related to the State Fair theme from 1960s to present day. Your audition should be a 90-second portion of your routine/song. This season classic will be performed on Dec. 10 and 11 in the North Clubhouse. Auditions will be held on Oct. 5 at 1:30 pm in the Ballroom lobby side. The cast will consist of five men and five women. This show will be the readers theater version. Audition forms and scripts are now available on the website. NEW MEMBERS WELCOME Cast parties, theater trips and friendship opportunities abound for Playhouse members. Our next general club meeting is on Oct. 4 at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. New members are always welcome. Visit our website for additional information. On Oct. 9, The Friendship Club presents Teri Ralston and Alix Korey in Broadway Babies All Grown Up. The two Broadway veterans join forces to relive their lifelong careers on stage. Teri was cast in the rock musical, Your Own Thing, which began her professional career. She was cast in Company, beginning a relationship with Stephen Sondheim and Hal Prince. Teri reprised her role in Company in the California and London companies. She was cast in Stephen Schwartz's The Baker's Wife, for which he wrote "Chanson" for her, and then in Cy Coleman's Home Again, Home Again. As a performer, Teri appeared in Side By Side By Sondheim, played Sally three times in Follies, Mamma Rose in Gypsy, and Yvonne in Sunday In The Park With George. She understudied for Carol Burnett in the Mark Taper Forum production of Putting It Together, starred in a Sondheim revue called Moving On, and played Night Music's Madame Armfeldt at South Coast Repertory. As a director, she directed Side By Side By Sondheim, in which she also starred with Peggy Lee, and directed a production of Follies and many other shows. Teri performed in a workshop of Natural Woman, appeared in Bajour, was in the original cast of Hats, The Musical, and was in Good Ol' Girls. Teri performed in summer stock around the country, and sang with the New Mexico Symphony and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. She was the featured entertainer with Crystal Cruises for two years, and has many television credits. Alix Korey is a veteran of eight Broadway shows, the last being All Shook Up. Others include Chicago, Neil Simon's 45 Seconds From Broadway, Triumph Of Love, Ain't Broadway Grand, and Pirates Of Penzance. She originated roles in The Wild Party, No Way To Treat A Lady, and Suburb. She appeared in films and TV shows, and released two award-winning CDs. Alix is one of the founders of Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights Aids, and has recently released a live concert album benefitting that organization. All Sun Lakes residents can join the Friendship Club and be entertained by Vegas-style entertainment. Membership fee is $25 per person per year. Tickets for each show are $20 for members, $25 for non-resident guests. Doors open at 6 pm with open seating, and shows begin at 7 pm.
