| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2022 | 53 Once again, from the famous office of the Sun Lakes RV magazine author, I say HEELLOO to all you great and wonderful Sun Lakes residents. As I sit here in my writer's cave, it is nice and cool. I wish I could say the same thing for outside. It's suppose to hit 104. I think if I go anywhere during all this heat, I'm just going to wear my bathing suit and bring a towel. Let's look at some of the wonderful holidays and celebrations we are going to enjoy during this great month of October 2022: 1 – International Day of Older Persons 3 – Butterfly and Hummingbird Day 4 – National Golf Lovers Day 5 – National Get Funky Day National Have Coffee with a Cop Day 10 – World Mental Health Day 12 – National Free Thought Day 17 – National Mulligan Day 22 – National Make a Dog Day 27 – National American Beer Day I don't know about you, but I am looking forward to Oct. 27. Anyway, on to more important information. Let's give a great big Happy Birthday to the following RV members. May your day be full of family, friends, great food, and a lot of great expensive birthday gifts. Here they are: John Russell, Pat Puckett, Lucinda Green, and Scott Sudweeks. Now, a word from our Sun Lakes RV Club President, Sandy Alexanian: "Reminder: the Annual RV Club Meeting and Pizza Party is Sun., Oct 23 at 5 pm South Clubhouse. Be sure and bring your own drinks/cups and wear your name tags. If you haven't already done so, please RSVP to Sandy Alexanian at (714) 330-3836. "Be sure and mark your calendars for Sun., Dec. 11. Our Annual Holiday Party will be in the South Clubhouse. Watch for flyers with more information. "Very excited for our Pismo Beach RV Rally this month; looking forward to seeing all of you there." Well, as they say, that's all folks. Have a great October. As you read this, we are going into our fourth week of fall bocce and the last week of matches beginning at 5 pm. As the weather cools, we move our starting times up to 3 pm. We have 62 teams playing this fall, including many new teams, thanks to the success of our Bocce 101 learning evening! It's good to see so many new players. For the first time in more than two years, we're planning a general meeting and an Italian dinner for our club. It will be on Oct. 23 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom; the doors will open at 3:30 with the meeting and then dinner at 5 pm. The menu will include salad, penne pasta with your choice of marinara, Alfredo or meat sauce, a vegetable medley, garlic bread and chocolate chip cookies. The cost to our members will be $5, $20 for non-members(guests). Reserve your seat by putting your money in an envelope, writing your name/ names on it and taking it to 1288 Pleasant Valley. She has a box at her door. Sign-ups must be in by Oct. 14. Looking forward to seeing some new faces and, of course, our faithful veteran players! Friends of Bocce
