SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | NOVEMBER 2022 13 By Theresa Rossetti, Resident This month's "ful" might surprise you. Let's discuss untruthful, saying something that is false or incorrect or hurtful, causing distress. Prior to widespread literacy, town criers were the means of communication with the townspeople. They announced proclamations, local bylaws, market days, advertisements, etc. Most of them carried bells to attract attention. One interesting job of the Town Crier in Goslar, Germany was to remind the people not to relieve themselves in the river the day before the water was drawn to brew beer. Important news, don't you think? In Idyllwild, CA the local paper is titled the Idyllwild Town Crier. Did you watch Bridgerton? One of the main characters, Lady Whistledown, published the local gossip to keep the masses informed of the foibles and scandals of the English upper class. Sometimes it was true, but many times it was untruthful and could be hurtful. There are several ways that information about happenings in SDV are disseminated to the residents of our community. One, obviously, is within the pages of The View. However, this we only publish monthly. Anything you read in it was written about three weeks before the first of the month. The most obvious source of accurate information is from the Management or the Board members. Coming to the Board Meetings is one way to get accurate information. Then there is Coffee with the Board and GM. Whoops, once again they are only once a month. Need more current sources? The bulletin board in the Lodge is the official place for SDV information to be posted. Want even more timely info? Register on the official SDV website, soleradiamondvalley.com by signing up at the Lodge. There you'll find current information including all the rules and regulations of our community. You will also receive official Blasts from Management and Resident Blasts informing you of updates. If you like, email suesblast@gmail.com to be added that email group. Meeting with friends, participating in events, clubs, and groups, joining the Solera Diamond Valley Neighbors Facebook group are other ways information is spread. All of that is great fun. However, it's not the best way to get information. Let's stick to the official routes to avoid the above two "ful" words. Now, I am thankful that you have spent the time to read this, and I will be very grateful next month to be done with The Year of "Ful!" A Ye Of "Ful" From the internet…
