SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | NOVEMBER 2022 9 COMEDY NIGHT The Vietnam Service Medal - Two rows of plastic beads… May God bless you with peace; and help with all your needs. In Vietnam I sadly walked the combat soldier Mile, In all I did I never could see Mama-san with a smile. A dual row of plastic beads that someone gave to me. Vietnam Veterans Moving Memorial Wall in 1993. It touched my heart that anyone would ever think to see My pain and give me something to show my family. I took them home and put them there with all the other stuff, In Vietnam I clearly thought that I had done enough. The sweat and blood and death tore at my tender heart. I thought what beads could ever mean to lives so torn apart. I thought of dead and wounded ones from both sides of the fray, I go to the VA to help me make it through another day. In fuzzy recollection I hear protesters rudely say, "Baby Killer!" For nothing, you took their lives away. I pray for peace within my heart that everyone can see That I'm a soldier who wants to be what God wants me to be. I take the beads into my hand. I ponder sorrowfully, I pray for honor; peace of heart-to bless my family. Then-Somewhere above a still small voice comforts me, Son; daughter: In the greater plan. My children belong to me. Remember! Millions once in bondage now are at least set free. I honor you for sacrifice and promise; one day it shall be… Your honor to meet with thousands of people once oppressed Who thank you now for delivering them from sorrow and from stress. Because you were in Vietnam and walked the sorrowful mile, Papa-san is free to hug his kids, and mama-san can smile. So take two rows of plastic beads within deserving hands, And thank God freedom is extended now to foreign lands. We honor all you did back then. Remember God loves you! Two rows of plastic beads testify that this is true. The Vietnam service Medal - Two rows of plastic beads… May God bless you with peace; and help with all your needs.
