| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | NOVEMBER 2022 | 13 Library Committee I just can't believe it's time to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I'm not ready and it's almost 90 degrees! I have a great idea. My friend Char buys new books published, lends them to me, and then donates them to the library after she reads them. We need a male version of Char to get new masculine types of books in our library. Volunteers? How do you like the work that was done on our puzzle shelves? It has a much cleaner look but we still have a large selection for you. We are short on our 300 piece puzzles. Please check your puzzles at home for them. Prevention magazine printed an article this month about the "Healthy Hobby" of jigsaw puzzles… "it provides a brain boost as well as a dose of serenity." Our shelves have been on the empty side and we attribute it to the summer vacations. We are finally seeing some missing books returned. Almost all of James Patterson was gone. He is one of the most popular and residents will take several at a time. Our library is an honor-system library. Feel free to borrow the books but return them as soon as you can. We so hope you were present to hear Howard Feigenbaum's talk in September. It was delightful. He also donated a copy of all his books. They are under the hardbound fiction in the author's selection. After Howard's talk, I had a couple of authors come to speak with me. A resident, Gerald Berns, donated two copies of his book, Thank You, Mr. Emerson. Another resident, Paul O'Neil, spoke with my co- chair, Betty Crase, and donated a couple copies of his books. Please check them out in our library. We also had an "outside" published author who has written many books, Bob White, and he donated two copies of one his books, Homicide at the Mini-Mart. Books excite us! And authors! Our hardbound fiction books are displayed from 2013 to 2022. Normally that fills those shelves. Our paperbacks are displayed from 2019-2022. Three years seems a short time but COVID seemed to spark the writer's fever! All of a sudden we had so many new books appear that we needed space to display them. We are in the process of trying to get the information correct in the Herald. Our meeting is at 1, not 12 pm and I am still with you! ~ Cookie Blair Becker and Carolyn Irvine Call us for special rates on selling homes for our Four Seasons Hemet neighbors!
