8 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | NOVEMBER 2022 | Welcome to November and its many surprises! Last year on Thanksgiving Day, we lost electric power but still managed to feed you. Some picked up boxes and some of us ate by candlelight in the Ballroom. In 2019, we switched to take-out ordering in boxes only. This year, it's "NO DARN TURKEYS!" So, unless you have successfully incubated a turkey egg for your Thanksgiving dinner, you won't be eating turkey or hear any gobble- gobble this year. Francisco has tried to place orders with four different distributors and none of them could guarantee delivery of any turkey. What will we do? I don't know! Today is only Oct. 7 so we will be working on ideas, and substitutions. Please watch for e-blasts to keep updated on the subject. Any thoughts? Our box for menu suggestions seems to be quite popular. The first week we had eight suggestions for vegetarian and/or gluten-free meals. The stir-fry has been well received and is offered as specials quite often. There is a pretty good selection of salads and most may be ordered without meat. Please don't just request more vegetarian/gluten-free; be specific of your preference so we can try to work it into the menu or for specials! Although not kept in stock, Tofu could be included to a meal if you request it in advance so that Francisco can order it. Do you know why hot rolls with melting butter always look and smell so yummy? It's the yeast that makes them rise to the occasion! Our drawing for a "Bistro Sunday Brunch for Two" was drawn by Betty Crase, and the lucky winners are John and Victoria Tarabochia.
