HOA NEWS | THE COLONY NEWS | NOVEMBER 2022 | 3 From the Desk of Bruce Dalfonso By Bruce Dalfonso, HOA President As we head into November, we watch the change of seasons. This time every year we see things change, leaves fall, temperatures cool down, and the days become shorter. Also, this time every year we have a new Board working to come up to speed. Each Board member, new and existing, is learning what each other's strengths are and the best ways to communicate with each other. We navigate how to best leverage the talents that everyone brings to the table. Our 18 committees are also impacted. As new Board liaisons are assigned to each committee, they must work together to understand how to bring the best value possible to The Colony. This is where so much of the work of The Colony is done, and we do all we can to hit the ground running with each committee. As a new season comes, we can also look fondly to the past season. Such is true with past Board members who have given so much of their service to this community. We all need to take a moment to recognize those who have served and now move on to another phase of life. To Amy Horlock: Thank you so much for your service and the joy you brought to every Board meeting, committee meeting, and each encounter you have with friends and neighbors in this community. Your positive attitude and work ethic were cornerstones of everything you worked on. Your tenure was cut way short due to a health issue, but we look forward to possibly seeing you run again in the future as you heal. To Glenn Sailer: Thank you for taking on any assignment put in front of you over your many years of service to The Colony. You were never afraid to take on any project. You have had a lifetime of experiences, but even when there was something you had limited experience in, you took the bull by the horns. You would dig into it to make sure you could give it the best effort possible. Your smiles, your positive attitude, and your humor will be missed. To Walt Bowman: Thank you for so many terms and so many years of service. You have been in the hot seat as president for multiple terms. With 1,586 homes, it is impossible to make everyone happy… but you always did your best to try. You answered every resident phone call, whether good or bad. It didn't matter why they called; you were there to help. Your resilience and your heart for this community are over the top and nearly impossible to match. Your service will be missed. A big thank you to these three and all past Board members who have volunteered to serve on The Colony Board of Directors.
