20 | THE COLONY NEWS | NOVEMBER 2022 | By Rita Nastri, 698-8640 The Colony Elf delivered the last of the gowns and tuxedos to Camp Pendleton (thank you for your wonderful response with so many donations), and is already at work with the Southwest Riverside County Marine Corps League and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to again provide and distribute toys to needy children through its Toys for Tots program. As in the past, this effort has not only provided gifts during the holidays, but it also sends a message of hope, which can motivate children to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders. As has been the protocol, a bin will be available from Friday, Nov. 11 through Sunday, Dec. 11 in the Clubhouse Lobby for your unwrapped gifts for children of all ages. Also, the Elf will be making a special appearance to accept your generous donations on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Christmas party provided by The Colony Social Committee. Last year, through the generosity of Colony residents, we collected lots of toys, and this year we would like to surpass that number. The Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Foundation is an IRS-RECOGNIZED 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit public charity. If any club or organization would like to participate in this worthwhile endeavor, please contact me at 698- 8640, and I will ask The Colony Elf to appear at your holiday function to personally accept your gifts for Toys for Tots. As I said last month, The Colony residents are very generous, and it brings great pride to me as I sort through the toys. Let's make this holiday special for as many kids as we can! TOYS FOR TOTS COLONY COIN CLUB: My name is Harold Schefski, and I would like to establish a Coin Club at The Colony. My father left me a coin collection and I have been collecting my entire life. There are three coin shops located within a five-mile radius of The Colony, and the owner of one of the shops is more than willing to speak and advise the group. If anyone is interested in joining, please contact me at 714-209-3753 or at Harold.Schefski@csulb.edu. PINOCHLE PLAYERS WANTED: Pinochle player every other Tuesday at 1 pm for two hours. May be a female or male. We have a reserved table in the Clubhouse. If interested, please call or text Joan Marek at 951- 365-7836. Interest Groups Temecula Valley Woman's Club Annual Home Tour By Rita Nastri The 36th Annual Temecula Valley Woman's Club Holiday Home Tour will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, and Sunday, Dec. 4, from 10 am to 4 pm each day. Enjoy lunch at the Bistro, purchase soups at the Gourmet Shop and baked treats from the bakery, and begin holiday shopping from their various vendors at the Market Place.
