HOA STAFF PROFILE: RICHARD AVILA
By Joanne Deacon
My congratulations to Richard Avila and
his wife on their upcoming "around the
house project." While this adrenaline rush
could be short-lived, the joy and awe of new
life (and lack of sleep) lasts much longer.
Richard has an array of talents and
interests he uses here everyday and is
always willing to help residents. Here's to a
Blessed Christmas Holiday to Richard and
his family.
In Richard's own words…
Hello everyone! I'm Richard. What I can
immediately say about The Colony is how
welcomed I've been by everyone I've met
so far. I started working as Assistant Maintenance Manager for
The Colony nine months ago, and still feel like I meet someone
new every day. I enjoy serving and making the residents happy
and ensuring that their events are always better than what they
expected. Before working at The Colony, I was a chef for over
15 years specializing in different cuisines, but I didn't want to
continue my passion as a career anymore.
Growing up and spending a lot of time with my
father, I became the hard-worker I am today
as well as a versatile team member and being
good at everything I put my mind to.
On my days off, I like spending time with
my family and always looking for the next
adventure with them. From weekend barbecues
to Sunday mornings or afternoon Chargers
football games, you can find me having a great
time and always laughing. I'm always fixing
things around my home and like to find the
next project to challenge me. I enjoy being
outside and have recently taken up biking. I
have skydived on more than one occasion and
something that's on my bucket list is to bungee jump, the ultimate
adrenaline rush. A few years back I used to love taking winding
roads on my motorcycle, and plan on getting another one soon,
but must wait on that because my first daughter is being born
in December. I'm going to finally be a dad! Christmas baby! I
can't wait to see and share my experiences with the people of The
Colony.
