| LIFE IN SOLERA | NOVEMBER 2022 | 21 This is a weekly group made up of generally men, but women are always welcome. Our focus is on conversation and friendship. We meet every Wednesday in the Clubhouse between 8 and 9 am in the Arts & Crafts Room. It is typically a group of 10 to 20 people. The group is led by a facilitator who ensures that everyone will have the opportunity to talk and encourages conversation. We have very interesting and diverse conversations. There are countless benefits you'll enjoy by joining this group, and they can vary from person to person. For more information about The Coffee Group, please contact George Vawter at (909) 253-3318 or via email hbwisenheimer1@ yahoo.com. Come and check us out, and feel free to bring your favorite coffee mug! COFFEE GROUP BON APPETIT CLUB Our October meeting was attended by 50 members and guests. Shazi Khan, General Manager, of Lot22 Olive Oil Company tasting rooms and retail store was our guest speaker. She shared her vast knowledge of naturally flavored and infused olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Discussions of their origins, multiple uses, and little known facts, made for a thoroughly interesting presentation, with many questions asked and answered. We sampled a number of different olive oils. Our next event will be Fri., Nov. 4. This is our annual meeting and potluck. We will be voting on our by-laws and new board members for 2023. When you RSVP, please let us know whether you will be bringing an entrée, side dish or appetizer. Our Holiday Luncheon is Fri., Dec. 2 at 12 pm at Yucaipa Valley Golf Club, located at 33725 Chapman Heights Road, Yucaipa, CA. Tickets are on sale now. The luncheon is for members, their spouse or significant other only. Price per person is $37. A flyer has been sent to all members and includes a detachable bottom section for the member's name and spouse or significant other, payment amount and meal selection. You will be able to drop off your form with your meal selection and a check made out to Bon Appetit at Pam Davidson's house in a drop off box at 1693 Landmark Way. All tickets must be purchased by Nov. 18. There will be no refunds after that date. Looking forward to a big turnout. Thank you… see you on Nov. 4. ~ Louise Sesto, President, Pam Davidson, Vice President, Bianca Ralston, Secretary, Mary Puchalski, Treasurer Our October event, "Name That Tune" was a fun evening for everyone (as you can see by the photo above); even for those of us whose musical memory recall failed miserably. Congratulations to the winning table that correctly named the tune and artist(s) with a score of 65 out of 75. And no, they did not use their cell phones! Coming up on Nov. 19 is "It's Turkey Time." This event will feature a full Thanksgiving meal catered by Thomas Catering, and also a DJ for music and dancing. On Dec. 10, the event will be our annual "Christmas Party" featuring a catered dinner by Thomas Catering and also a DJ for music and dancing. These two events will close out 2022 and are ones that you do not want to miss. We are also in the process of planning more fun events for our club members in 2023, so be on the lookout for more information in upcoming "Life in Solera" articles. In closing, I would like to personally thank those members of our Steering Committee and volunteers that go the extra mile to chair and plan our events. It is their dedication and imagination that makes the Solera Sippers the leading social (and sometimes educational) club in Solera. Thank you. Please remember that upcoming Solera Sippers events, membership guidelines and application are available at the Solera Sippers web page on the Solera Oak Valley Greens website. You can access the web page by going to the "Recreation" heading and then under "Clubs and Groups." Wine Trivia: In Madeira, a fortified island, wine was a fan favorite among the founding fathers, and was used to toast both the signing of the Declaration of Independence and George Washington's inauguration. It was easier, compared to table wines, to transport across the Atlantic. For info about the Solera Sippers, please contact Gary Stoh at (951) 845-1981 or via email at garymstoh@aol.com.
