| LIFE IN SOLERA | NOVEMBER 2022 | 23 Over our years of sending care packages to our service men and women, fundraisers have been a necessary part of the process. This past October, we held a garage-sale fundraiser. My street does not receive much in the way of traffic to conduct such a sale. Ron and Debbie Monroe have been gracious to host the sale at their residence for a second time. They receive much more traffic and have one long driveway. They not only provided their driveway, but opened their home as well, providing snacks, refreshments, delicious coffee, and Ron's quiche, which is to die for. Ron and Debbie, I can't thank you enough. The garage sale takes days and days of planning and coordinating. Many Solera residents donated items to sell and we thank you for all you gave. For all those who provided their trucks and SUVs and the helpers who went along to pick up items, you were a great help. I hate to discuss two fundraisers in the same article, but it just worked out this way. It actually takes the two events to cover the postage cost for the year. Marty and Diana Mangan will be hosting a musical event on Sun., Nov. 13 in Oakmont Rooms 1 - 3. If you have never been to one of their fundraisers, I highly recommend it; not only do they have some of Solera's best singers, but also guest singers from outside our community. It usually starts out with a potluck for those who wish to participate. There is table seating and a raffle at the end of the show. I am sure that Diana and Marty can use volunteers in helping put on the show, and people to donate items for the raffle, as well as to make gift baskets. If you can sell tickets to friends or at your club, you may text (no phone calls) Marty at (909) 921-1144, or email him at martymangan@ yahoo.com. I would like to thank all of you who help keep our care package project going. Thank you for caring. ~ Jesse Donardt SUPPORT OUR TROOPS VETERAN ASSISTANCE Billy (Mitch) Mitchell is a resident and Veteran who has voluntarily worked with individuals and the Veterans Administration to assist Veterans in obtaining benefits.
