54 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2022 | Couples Golf September brought unpredictable weather patterns that perfectly mimic the wonderful game of golf. One day you're HOT and the next day you're COLD, but there is always one or two shots that make it all worth it and keeps you coming back for more. September also hosted the Sun Lakes Couples golf club's championship tournament. I've been telling you all year that the couples club isn't competitive and that it's about fun and camaraderie (and it is), but don't you think for one minute that the club championship tournament is anything BUT competitive. It's a supreme battle of psychological and physical warfare! The reigning champions began their strategic planning early, systematically getting in the heads of the rest of us who simply want a taste of their success and competitive prowess. They purposely had average performance here and there just to throw off the pack, giving us a false sense of possibility, just to dash our self esteem the next week with stellar performance. Heck, I just want to be like them! They played like the champions they are and repeated history for 2022. Not only are the champions amazing golfers, they are also AMAZING people with big hearts and many talents. They live the culture of the Sun Lakes Couples Golf club. They can talk smack, give grace and get the job done - all with laughter and love! They can even golf with me without profanity or frustration (or at least they hide it well). They are comfortable golfing with any level of partner and always make their team feel comfortable and appreciated. One of them is a ROCK STAR (literally) and the other can crochet a head cover that looks exactly like your favorite pet. Congratulations to Bill and Kari Steinwart, once again, the 2022 Sun Lakes Couples Golf Club CHAMPIONS! Honorable mention to Tom Keheley and Diane Spence 2022 Club Champions low net, Gary Heading and Cristy Glinoga 2nd Gross, Gary and Sherri Little 2nd net, and John and Joshua Mursa 3rd Net.
