10 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2022 | By Kara Lukasik A friendly reminder that Daylight Saving Time ends Sun., Nov. 6. It's the time of year to FALL back (turn the clocks back one hour). A frequent question I am asked is, "When does the pool close?" I am happy to say that the pools do not close for the winter. Although Nov. 1 is the date when the outdoor pools are no longer heated, the Jacuzzis will continue to be heated for all to enjoy. This year, the H2O Volleyball will be moving to the South Clubhouse pool on Mon., Oct. 31, to join in with the Aqua Zumba and WWW classes that currently take place at the South Clubhouse Pool (H2O Volleyball M, W, & F 8 to 10 am). A class schedule will be posted on the doors as a reminder. Please remember to use proper pool etiquette and do not interrupt these classes. Holiday magic is beginning to fill the air. I am excited about all of the fun things on the upcoming calendar and I hope to see everyone out and about enjoying themselves around the clubhouses this holiday season. From the Recreation Director COVID VACCINE Wed., Nov. 2 12 to 4 pm, Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Riverside County Health will be coming to the Main Clubhouse Ballroom again this month. They will be offering the Pfizer & Moderna vaccines. Appointments are not required, please bring your vaccination card. Info., call the Rec. Dept. FALL CRAFT SHOW Nov. 4 and 5, 9 am to 1 pm, Main Clubhouse Ballroom - free admission. This is a great opportunity to get a head start on your holiday shopping as our Sun Lakes residents offer tons of homemade crafts and goodies for sale. PUMPKIN PIE SOCIAL Mon., Nov. 7, 2 pm, Sandwedge; $3 per person. Come join in the Sandwedge for an old-fashioned slice of Pumpkin Pie hosted by the wonderful volunteers from the Recreation Advisory Committee. They will be serving pie with a big dollup of whipped cream and we'll have coffee as well. 11TH ANNUAL VETERANS WALK Nov. 12: 9:30 am Presentation of Colors & National Anthem; 9:40 am Start of the Walk; 10 - 10:30 am Continental Breakfast; 11 am Veteran Speakers; 11:30 am Closing Remarks. Join us for our 11th Annual Veterans Walk to honor all who have served our country. This two-mile walk will be held inside Sun Lakes and all the proceeds will benefit our local VFW Post 233. If you don't feel you can do two miles, there are turn back increments at the half mile, one mile, and 1.5 mile markers. Registration forms are available at the Main Clubhouse reception desk now. The cost is $25 pp (checks only – payable to SLCC) and includes an event t-shirt, continental breakfast, and an opportunity to listen to stories by decorated local Veterans. For residents who are unable to walk, you can still participate by entering your golf cart into the event. We ask that the carts be decorated with a U.S. Flag, a Service Flag, or a Wounded Warrior Flag to support the event. Please note, golf cart use is for disabled residents ONLY. If you know anyone who would like to sponsor this event, please have them contact Kara at (951) 769- 6651. The continental breakfast is for participants only.
