26 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | NOVEMBER 2022 | Fiber Artists From dishrags to beautiful scarves and anything else you can think of, it can be created with fabulous yarns. Join us Mondays as we knit, crochet, quilt, cross stitch, and more, on various projects of our own. Seeing what others are working on and creating is half the fun. We meet Mondays in the North Clubhouse at 12:30 pm. The second Monday of each month we share our yarn and supplies, swapping them around, and on the last Monday of each month we share a potluck lunch. We can remind you how to do what you learned as a child at grandmother's knee or start you on a new hobby. Call Carol Willis at (404) 245-6939 or Diane Black at (801) 367-5999. We were busy last month working on creating our beautiful bags. The group received donations from families of some residents who have passed and wanted to share their love of quilting. We look forward to our classes where we help each other learn new things and have fun show and shares. We meet the first, third, and fifth Mondays of the month from 1 to 3 pm. For info, call Jan Hamm at (951) 212-6799 or Vivian Myrdahl at (626) 221-0872. Sun Lakes Quilters Sew What? Club We participated in the Activities Day event in September and it was quite successful, with several people stopping at our table to learn more about what we do. We like to display some of the items that have been made by ladies in our group. There are some truly remarkable and unique cards, albums, and other projects that have been created by our members. As people walk by looking at our wares, many are amazed at the talent presented there. We see a lot of eye rolling, but all it takes is an ardent desire and a pure love of creating beautiful things. We have had a couple new ladies join us recently and everyone is enjoying the process of sharing fresh ideas and focusing on new projects. We are quite the cohesive group; our friendships have extended beyond just paper crafting. Our latest monthly Make 'n Take project was to decorate a frame, using whatever items each individual chose to use. We decided on either following a certain theme or color, or simply using favorite items to adhere to the frame. Pictured is a sample of the inspiration for this activity. All items attached to the frame had some significance to the couple pictured in the frame. Topics could be a graduation, a wedding, a birth, or any other memorable moment in someone's life. Similar to a scrapbook, the frame can tell a story. The holidays are just ahead, and we are excited to see what this year's party organizers have in store for us at our December dinner party, scheduled for Monday evening, Dec. 5. We plan to gather for this event in the North Clubhouse. We all look forward to this annual party. We meet from 1 to 3 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. We meet three times in November: Tues., Nov. 1, then on two Mondays, Nov. 21 and 28. We will get together for the November birthday lunch on Thurs., Nov. 10 at 11 am in the Atrium. Beginning in January, our meeting schedule will be much simpler, as we will always be meeting on Mondays only. There is no cost to join, just stop by and say hello. Contacts for this group are Elaine Perkins (951) 334-3119 or Sallie Flesher (951) 902-9768. Paper Crafting All ladies interested in sewing are encouraged to attend our Sew What? Club meetings the first and third Tuesdays in the Arts & Crafts Room from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. If you have questions, please call Gail at (951) 797-3589 and leave your name and number and I'll call you back. Sun Lakes Mudslingers We meet every Tuesday from 3 to 6 pm and Fridays from 9 am to 12 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. No prior experience is needed. Month- to-month sign up is allowed, so no lengthy commitment. We do have space limitations though. Right now there is room for a few more budding artists. If you ever wanted to play in the mud or learn to use the wheel, now is your chance. The cost is $70 per month and includes all supplies and materials needed. Just bring yourself and have fun. Try out a new hobby with very little expense and no new "stuff " to store. For more info, contact Camille Meldrum at camille.meldrum@gmail.com.
