Garden Club
At this time of year there are so many things to be thankful for,
one of which is our gardening friends. Friends who will listen, as
you talk about endless varieties of plants and pests, garden successes
and failures. Friends who share cuttings and seeds and their vast
gardening knowledge. If you would like more of these friendships,
please join the OHCC Garden Club. If you join in November or
December your membership will include all of 2023. You can join
at any Garden Club meeting.
The Garden Club will be providing the Memorial
wreath for OHCC Veterans Day tribute on Nov.
11. Everyone is invited to join the celebration.
The Garden Club will also be helping the Wood
Chucks on Nov. 19, to collect toys and monetary
donations for the Children at Camp Pendleton,
to enrich their holidays. The collection will take
place in the overflow lot.
Garden Club will be having a table during
the OHCC Flea Market on Nov. 12, in Abravanel
Hall. We will have some select plants and garden
art, perfect for holiday giving.
Our Nov. 9 meeting speaker will be George Speer, a Master
Floral Designer, from Floral Design Group. George has been
teaching floral design for over 20 years. He will present a floral
design demonstration, just in time for us to learn to decorate our
homes for the holidays with a beautiful centerpiece. Our meeting
social time begins at 9:30 am and the speaker begins at 10 am.
As we head into the holiday season, make sure you save your place
for Dec. 14, our Holiday Luncheon, catered by The Village Pie Shop.
Cost is $38 for members and $43 for non-members. Menu
choices are: Beef Stroganoff, or Chicken
Marsala or a Steamed Vegetable plate with
rice. We will be having the delicious
holiday dessert buffet again this year.
Reservations begin Nov. 1. Just drop
your envelope off at the Clubhouse
front desk with all the checks,
names of people at your table and
meal selections. Gather all your
friends together for a table of 10,
or partial groups will be seated together
at our discretion. Absolutely no reservations
accepted after Nov. 30. The program will be
educational beauty makeovers provided by the
Beautycounter. It should be a fun afternoon. Be
sure to include the luncheon in your holiday plans.
