| OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2022 | 17 The very first meeting of the OH Wine Tasting Club was Sept. 21, 2012. The first Board of Directors were comprised of Bruce Brady – President, Jeff Carpenter – Vice President, Donna Stark – Secretary, Jean Hefler – Treasurer, and Dick Castle – Membership. On Sept. 21, 2022, to celebrate the 10th Anniversary, Group 1 – Grape Expectations held a party at the home of Kay and Willy Sernesi. Because the weather was so mild, the party was held outside in the Sernesis' lovely garden area of their new home on Collinos Way. Jerri and Paul Starkey presented seven wines from "Boutique Winemakers you haven't heard of " group of the Naked Wines company. Grape Expectations club invited the original and current Presidents and their spouses (Suzy and Bruce Brady and Jody and Jim McDonough) to participate in the festivities. In 2012, there were two groups to start out: Grape Expectations and Corkers. At the 2013 Do Dues Day, there were so many residents who joined the Wine Tasting Club, three more groups were formed. At the beginning of 2022, there were 10 groups who meet for monthly tastings who have between 29 and 35 members. On Oct. 25, the OH Wine Tasting Club had a Tenth Anniversary Harvest Moon Party to celebrate the formation of the Club in Abravanel Hall. It was catered by Wildwood Crossing of Vista and the entertainment was Music Station. OH Wine Tasting Club is open to all residents of OHCC for a $12 annual membership fee. For new members that sign up before Dec. 31, the membership will be good through 2023. Wine Tasting Club Genealogy Interest Group The Genealogy Interest Group is a growing group of individuals who want to find out about their heritage and their ancestry. Curiosity about those who came before and formed us is important. The group provides tools to do your research and help in getting started. For the experienced, we can offer suggestions to break through the brick walls of past generations. Meeting with others looking in the same geographical areas is a great help. We have both Apple computers and PCs. There will be a help session on Fri., Nov. 18 at 10 am in the Computer Room. We will not meet in December. All sessions can be seen on the TAG calendar. We are happy to offer the World Explorer version of Ancestry. com free of charge in the Computer Room. This program would cost an individual about $100 a month. We also offer the Family Tree Maker on several of the computers in the lab. A family tree can be started and compiled with either or both of these programs with many hints to assist in your research. Coordinators are Dorothy Miller and Peggy Singh. Contact us at rootsatOHCC@ gmail.com.
