32 | OHCC LIVING | NOVEMBER 2022 | Village Vets Many thanks to our guest speaker Saundra Cima from the San Diego Honor Flight organization at our Oct. 27 Village Vet's meeting. Saundra gave us an update with new information for our Vietnam Veterans. Our thanks to Lady Hawk for her talk about her experiences as a Phantom Jet Copilot. Unfortunately, our offsite trip to the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Mechanized Museum and the Ranch House Museum Complex had to be postponed due to booking issues. We will reschedule the trip for some time in the spring. Our speaker Bob Bechill presented a check for $250 to Commander David Hefler as a donation to the Village Vets Club from the Military Officer's Association of America (MOAA) as the local chapter was closed down. Our annual election of Officers was held, and the following persons elected; David Hefler Commander, Bob Bechill Vice Commander, Sandee Lang Secretary, Robert Smith Treasurer and Membership. Please remember to come Veteran's Day, Nov. 11 at 11 am in Abravanel Hall at the Clubhouse. We will be reviving activities that we all missed over the past few years. Everyone is invited to attend this fun filled event. The theme for the event will be Women in the Military. The event will be hosted by the Village Vet's Club, the OHCC Clubhouse, with military and other groups joining us. The plans for our Dec. 10 Village Vet's Holiday Party are coming together. We will have a grand dinner planned in Abravanel Hall, catered by the Village Kitchen & Pie Shoppe from Carlsbad. The Arrowhead Band will be entertaining, for your listening and dancing pleasure. We will also be inviting and sponsoring military personnel and guests to be at each table as in the past. We hope to have our members help sponsor a military guest or two. In past years, the Vet's holiday parties have been loved by our members as one of the highlights of the holiday season. Inspiration Hill As we walk the trail at Inspiration Hill, we are always impressed by the varied community inspirations as expressed on the Donor Bricks. The trail begins by honoring our pioneer OHCC Founders, and continues with those who so bravely served us. There are bricks honoring family members, beloved pets, and favorite universities. What is your inspiration? The HOA continues to take orders for your own personalized bricks. Fill out an order form at the HOA office, and include a check for $75. Your inspiration brick will help line the trail to the top of the hill!
