Riverside's 30th annual festival of lights bus trip Thursday, Dec. 1 Get in the holiday spirit at the spectacular 30th Annual Festival of Lights! With over 3.5 million brilliant lights, animated elves and carolers that come alive, it is one of the nation's largest holiday light collections and voted "Best Public Lights Display" by USA Today. Walk around historic downtown Riverside, and shop and dine on your own. You can also take that special horse drawn carriage ride. The bus leaves the parking lot at 3:30 pm and returns at 9 pm. Tickets are $32 per person. Remember to dress warm. See Kara in the Activities Office to purchase tickets as soon as you get your Colony News magazine!. Tuesday social Tuesday, Dec. 6, 5 pm. Because of the busy holiday schedule in the Clubhouse, we will meet only once this month, on Dec. 6, from 5 to 6:30 pm. We hope you will come and enjoy the fun and camaraderie! Please BYOB and hors d'oeuvre to share and the usual donation of $1. We will resume our normal weekly schedule on Tuesday, Jan. 3. Holiday decorating contest Let's spread a little holiday cheer around the neighborhood! This year we want to see just how creative you can be — so, round up the Christmas elves, get out your bows, ribbons and tinsel and decorate! Remember to follow the Association Holiday decorating guidelines. Send your photos to Kara Hardy so she can share them in an upcoming eBlast. holiday cookie exchange Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 5 pm. Amid all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, from shopping for gifts to decorating the tree, you totally deserve a cookie break… and maybe a little wine! We invite you to join us for our first annual Cookie Exchange. At the party, you will sample a variety of cookies and sip on your favorite Holiday Spirits (BYOB). Everyone leaves with a full tummy, recipes, and an edible gift to take home as well as all the cookie recipes. Our Special Guest Judges will award prizes for best overall, best tasting, and most festive cookie. The requirements are: • All cookies should be homemade. • Please bring at least two dozen cookies (or more if you'd like!). • Arrange cookies in a basket or platter (be creative!). • Bring a container to carry the cookies you take home. • Christmas attire is encouraged. Pull out those jingle bell earrings and elf suits. • If you encounter a baking mishap or don't have time to bake, please bring two dozen cookies from your local bakery, or simply grab a box of Peppermint Jo Jo's if you really need to. • Have fun and eat delicious cookies with friends! • Must RSVP no later than Monday, Dec. 12.
