Tennis Titan Ladies gathered together at the Hickory Ranch Steak House in Yucaipa in late September to celebrate the birthdays of five ladies: Terrie Garcia, Gale Howard, Joanne Larson, Barbara Boutwell, and Sarah Tsai. Rarely are all the past and present lady players able to gather together. Some of us had never been there. The manager Michelle and our waiter Sean were incredibly accommodating. Their hours had changed, but we were allowed to order anything from the menu even though we were there an hour earlier than the officially opening time. If you have never been there, we suggest you give them a try. The food was delicious, the portions were huge, and the selections were broad. We were allowed to take in our own birthday cake, and there were no extra charges; this policy is hard to find any more. TENNIS TITANS GOLF CLUB The Solera Golf Club held its 2022 Annual Meeting in the Clubhouse on Oct. 22. Highlights include electing the following members as the 2023 Board of Directors: President, Jim Karalun; Vice President, Alan Forbes; Secretary, Armand Silva; Treasurer, Marty Anderson; At Large, Jim Parker (Tournament Chair); At Large, Tony Smith; Past President, Richard Crowe (stepping down after four years as President). Trophies and $50 checks (each) were awarded to Co-Champs Dale Foley and Jyun Yamashiro and Co-Net Champs Rod Fry and Doug Asuncion. A trophy with a $100 check was awarded to Tony Smith as Match Play champion. Trophies were different and more practical this year. A special trophy of appreciation was awarded to Merele Chapman for his three years' extra time devoted to collecting monies and scorecards under COVID restrictions (photo below left is of Merele holding his trophy with some Club members at the Sand Trap (19th hole) after golf on Oct. 25). | LIFE IN SOLERA | DECEMBER 2022 | 39 The gang's all here!
