Garden Club
Cheers to health, happiness and gardening this day and everyday
throughout the year.
Two of the most vital elements for plant life are sunshine and water,
working together to keep plants thriving. The Garden Club has been
fortunate enough to have found our sun and water, in the form of our
two Co-Presidents, Cindi DeWeese and Jeanne Brantman. For the
past three years, through the pandemic and beyond, these two women
have worked together to make the Garden Club grow into a dynamic
group. Cindi and Jeanne harmonize together, with Jeanne leading the
meetings and Cindi directing the Board meetings and both providing
moral support to each other. Together they have found a balance,
of sun and water, key to a successful garden and club. During their
tenure, the Garden Club has raised several thousand dollars, used
on many beautification projects throughout the village. Thank you,
ladies, for your time, leadership and dedication to the OHCC Garden
Club. As we look forward to 2023, we welcome Linda Slayton, as our
new President. Linda is well prepared to take over the presidency,
having served as our Vice President in charge of programs for the
last three years. The sun is shining bright on the future of the Garden
Club, let's hope for some rain for our gardens.
Our Jan. 11 meeting speaker will be Fred Clarke, the General
Manager of the Carlsbad Flower Fields. Fred is also the owner of
Sunset Valley Orchids in Vista and a world-renowned grower and
hybridizer of orchids, and has been teaching floral design for over 20
years. He will speak about the flower fields. Our meeting social time
begins at 9:30 am and the speaker begins at 10 am.
While visiting the Clubhouse this holiday season, stop and admire
the festive holiday trees. Thank you to the Garden Club members
who volunteered with the decorating. Happy Holidays to everyone!
