HANUKAH OH HANUKAH COME LIGHT
THE MENORAH The YCC will close out the year
with a huge celebration of Hanukah on Wed. Dec.
14, at 6 pm in the South Clubhouse with a deli
dinner and live entertainment featuring Perry
Goldstein. We will also light the Menorah outside
the Main Clubhouse on the first night of Hanukah,
Sun., Dec. 18 at 4:45 pm. Lighting the candles is
Hanukah's most central ritual. Hanukah is a Jewish
festival often referred to as the Festival of Lights
commemorating the rededication of the second
temple at the beginning of the Maccabean revolt.
The temple was destroyed with only enough oil to burn one night,
but miraculously the lamps burned for eight days. We honor this
historical event by lighting one candle of the Menorah each evening
at sundown, until all eight candles are lit.
At our Wednesday night gala, the meal will consist of deli
sandwiches created by Manhattan in the Desert. Your choice of
pastrami, corned beef or turkey (you get to pick your two favorites)
served with cole slaw, potato salad, a cheese platter, latkes with sour
cream and applesauce, followed by donuts for dessert. $20 pp for our
members and $25 pp for guests.
To celebrate this joyous holiday with frivolity, showman Perry
Goldstein will entertain us with Hanukah parodies, satire, and lots of
laughs. Perry will bring along other band members
for a night of fun filled celebration. Perry had
formerly created a Purim Spiel for the YCC last March
and it was a crazy and wonderful time. We can't wait
to see what he has in store for us this Hanukah. Word
is out that there will also be a singalong!
Please make checks payable to YCC for the dinner
and deliver to the home of Maryanne Kirschbaum,
1942 Fairway Oaks by Dec. 7 with your reservation
flyer. Additional flyers are in the rack by the
reception desk at the Main Clubhouse. We can't wait
to celebrate with you.
