46 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2022 | "To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow." Audrey Hepburn That quote seems an appropriate positive note for the New Year we are about to start. Before we go any further, Beverly Agner, our club President, on behalf of the Garden Club Board wishes to express an enthusiastic THANK YOU to all our members for your presence and support in making this year a joyful one. Because of our generous members, the Garden Club has been able to contribute substantially and in a multitude of ways to the Pass Area community and especially to Sun Lakes and its charities. Keeping with the season's spirit of gratitude, the Garden Club has enjoyed a year of programs offering presentations on a variety of topics. November's meeting was no exception. Ron Lang and Steve Trammell inspired attendees with their knowledge of orchids, the varieties, their particular attributes, and care. Ron Lang is a member of The Orchid Society and their membership chair. He also does their local newsletter. He and his wife Linda are judges for the National Garden Club Flower Shows and the American Orchid Society Awards. Steve Trammell is also a member of the Orchid Society and the local chapter treasurer. In addition to our amazing guest speakers, our Garden of Eat-um Guy, Pat Pennington, has consistently provided us with valuable vegetable gardening tips as well as updating us regularly on the Banning Community Garden with which he is deeply involved. He is happy to answer your questions about either one at (951) 3140-9229. This month a members-only, FREE Christmas Luncheon is set for our regular meeting time, Dec. 14 at 10 am. WOW, now that's a benefit for which to be grateful, indeed! Except for the December luncheon, guests are always welcome to attend one of our meetings which (unless otherwise announced) are on the second Wednesday of every month at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Dues are only $15 a year. Our President Beverly Agner at (951) 306-7379 is always ready to answer your questions. If you have questions about joining, our membership Co-Chairs Sherry Case at (951) 533-3584 or Linda Powers at (951) 769-3101 would be happy to help. The Garden Club wishes the entire Sun Lakes community, residents, and staff a happy holiday season and new year. Garden Club
