| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2022 | 3 We were shocked and saddened by the unexpected passing of Board Member and Treasurer Dan Comerford this past month. He was an integral part of our community and his wit and expertise will be missed. Dan was active in bowling, billiards, Young at Heart, and served multiple terms on the Master Board. We wish his lovely wife, Teri, our condolences and sympathy. The Board position left vacant will be filled during the next election cycle. The candidate who wins third place will serve the remaining term of one year. Ron Varner has been appointed as our new non-board member Treasurer and the term will run until April 1, 2023. Hernan Rojas, our Audio Video specialist, and Bob Murri have developed an excellent web page for visitors and residents alike. The page is entitled Welcome to Sun Lakes Country Club with its meticulously maintained grounds, recreation facilities and friendly people. Our community needs to slow down, be cautious, and be a little friendlier on our streets and social media platforms. The primary functions of an HOA Board are to maintain and enhance the common areas; have consistent and equitable enforcement of the CC&Rs, rules and regulations and by-laws; develop an annual budget; and conduct oversight of the financial operations in a fiduciary manner. This year's Board has implemented or approved the following: • Adopted the 2023 annual budget with a minimal $10 increase • "Message to Management" communication system with FirstService Residential to ensure timely responses to residents' concerns • Appointed Ad Hoc committees to research suggestions for changes in rules and procedures • Are developing a Policy Manual to record and clarify processes, guidelines and rulings for this and future Boards. • Changed the time of the Open Board Session to 3 pm instead of 6:30 pm which resulted in a significant increase in resident attendance • New outdoor lighting for the Veranda • Converting the north side tennis courts to a new state-of-the-art pickleball complex • New upgraded casino-grade carpet for the Ballroom, hallway, Billiards Room and Atrium • Established a Financial Advisory Committee, Procurement Advisory Committee, and Landscaping Sub Committee • Reviewed major contracts and RFPs • Established regular meetings with city officials • Appointed a new community ambassador to improve community relations Our pending community challenges still need to be addressed. The warehouse project is now in the hands of Riverside Superior Court. The water mandates and level two water restrictions imposed by the City of Banning as well as our need for additional law enforcement services still need to be addressed by our new city council. Our new community ambassador is endeavoring to develop a better relationship with the entire Banning community. We cannot continue to be isolated and have our issues voted down 4 to 1 for another two years. Hopefully, the new council representative will be able to assist us in improving relations and achieving our community objectives. The holiday season is upon us. Many districts, clubs, and groups will be hosting their holiday parties and events. Regrettably, the new carpet will not be installed until January due to a delay in delivery and concerns over interfering with the holiday events. As we continue our journey through life in our beautiful Sun Lakes Community, the Master Board would like to wish everyone a very healthy and joyful holiday season. ~ Bob Walter, Randy Robbins, Beverly Simmons, Lori Hazelton "Creating a better world requires teamwork, partnership and collaboration." ~ Simon Mainwaring From the Master Board Facility Dec. 23 Dec. 24 Dec. 25 Dec. 26 Dec. 30 Dec. 31 Jan. 1 Jan. 2 Main Clubhouse 6a-10p 6a-3p Closed 6a-10p 6a-10p 6a-12a Closed 6a-10p Main Clubhouse Recep 8a-5p 5a-3p Closed 8a-5p 8a-5p 8a-5p Closed 8a-5p South Clubhouse 6a-10p 6a-3p Closed 6a-10p 6a-10p 6a-5p Closed 6a-10p North Clubhouse 6a-10p 6a-3p Closed 6a-10p 6a-10p 6a-5p Closed 6a-10p Administration Office Closed Closed Closed Closed Closed Closed Closed Closed Recreation Office Closed Closed Closed Closed Closed Closed Closed Closed Main Pro Shop 7a-5p 7a-1p Closed 7a-5p 7a-5p 7a-5p Closed 7a-5p North Pro Shop 7:30a-3p 7:30a-1p Closed 7:30a-3p 7:30a-3p 7:30a-3p Closed 7:30a-3p Dining Room 11a-3p 11a Brunch Closed Closed 11a-3p 11a Lunch Closed Closed Dining Room 4:30-8p 2:30p Brunch 4:40-8p 3p Lunch Lounge 11a-10p 11a-3p Closed 3-8p 11a-10p 11a-12a Closed 3-8p Sandwedge 7-11a Closed Closed Closed 7-11a 7a-3p Closed Closed Sun Lakes Facility Holiday Hours
