| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2022 | 41 The Bereavement Support Group meets Sundays in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room from 3 to 4:30 pm. This group is designed to provide emotional support to any resident mourning the death of a spouse, relationship, child, parent, or beloved pet. We gather together as "hearts with ears" in absolute confidentiality in a safe shared place where strangers may become friends. Each of us is unique; our grief cannot be identical to any other, and the way to get to the other side of your grief is to "go through." For more info, call Carol Tasko at (951) 769-8932. Bereavement Group If you live alone and would enjoy the benefit of having a daily check on your well being by THE ALL IS WELL group, please register your interest by calling Barbara Searcy at (951) 663-3382. You will be teamed with a volunteer who will get in touch with you to arrange reassuring daily contact. All Is Well Group Whatever holiday you celebrate (Christmas, Hanukkah, or Kwanza) I wish each of you a happy and joyful holiday season with family and good friends. Our next meeting and support group will be Thurs., Dec. 15 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. There is no guest speaker this month. This will give each of you more time to share. This group is for you the caregiver. Our program is open to all caregivers. This is a free program! In October, Ed Avina, the gentleman who has been entertaining our group in the Arts & Crafts Room, was taken ill. Get well Ed! Thank you so very much, Olga Marquette, Kathy Reynolds, and Penny Skog (the Kahula Lei Lani dancers) for stepping in at the last minute to entertain our loved ones. I also want to thank Emily Alvarez for stepping in as a helper. Seems we had a lot of people not well and some very generous people willing to help. Don't forget to bring your loved one to the Arts & Crafts Room when you attend the meeting. We offer live entertainment, games, exercise, and fun. We will do whatever needs to be done to entertain your loved one so you can relax and enjoy the meeting. No one is forced to participate. PLANNING AHEAD FOR LONG-TERM CARE EXPENSES #3 Explore Financial Resources To Cover Costs: Consider both private and government resources when planning for long-term care. These include insurance, including government insurance program, Medicare, a supplemental insurance policy, disability insurance from an employer-paid plan, personal policy, a group employee plan, retiree medical coverage, life insurance, and long-term care insurance, some which may not be available for purchase after symptoms of Alzheimer's disease appear. Government help includes: Social Security Disability Income (SSDI) for workers under age 65; Supplemental Security Income (SSI); Medicaid; Veterans' benefits; and tax deductions and credits, such as the Household and Dependent Care Credit. Other help may be community support, including low-or no- cost support services, respite care, support groups, transportation and meal delivery. There are also retirement benefits, including retirement accounts (IRAs); employee-funded retirement plans, such as a 401(k), 403(b); Keoghs; and/or personal savings and assets, including stocks, bonds, saving accounts, real estate and personal property, such as jewelry or artwork. We are here to help! Call us if you have any questions: Diane, (951) 769-0130, Doug, (360) 840-5559 or Anne, (951) 845-8700. Caregiver Support Group
