| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2022 | 63 From Courtney, the publisher: The holidays are upon us and with that come memories, some fond, some funny (which were originally tragic but, with time, have become funny). A portion of my childhood was spent in Omaha after my parents divorced and my mom really did her best (for a super-smart person who can't operate an alarm clock). One year, she "assembled" a 10-speed bike for me. It was late Christmas Eve after a family party and she had a friend over to "help." When they got to the part in instructions where it read, "Remove frame and lean against wall," they took out the frame, laid it on the carpet, then they both walked over to a wall and leaned against it, laughing so hard they were crying. Fast forward to me riding the bike to school and the pedal snaps off and the sharp metal bolt slices through my shin. I picked the pedal up and continued to school, riding the bike with one pedal, arriving late of course, my right sock and shoe soaked in blood. So this leads me to ask this month's secret question: What is your favorite memory of the holidays? Email me at sunlakesnews@yahoo.com. Now back to the Get the Joke stuff: To win a free dinner, find the ad, article or just weird, out-of-place, completely made-up (and hopefully funny) item in this month's Lifestyles. When you find it, fill out the box below and (new!) EMAIL IT TO sunlakesnews@yahoo.com before noon on the sixth of the month. If you are the first correct guess chosen at random, you will win a free dinner. Good luck! Congratulations to this month's Dinner Winner: VICTOR GASSMAN Please call Kelly in the Admin. Patricia B. your comments: GET THE JOKE! I found the joke! Resident name (first & last): ________________________________________ This was the joke: _______________________________________________ Comments (we LOVE your notes - about anything!): _______________________ ____________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________ Send your entry to sunlakesnews@yahoo.com or drop it at the Main Clubhouse OUR ADVERTISERS ARE Payment for the production of Lifestyles (and the reason it's free to homeowners) is due to the generous support of our advertisers. Please thank them by visiting their place of business or calling them first whenever you need their service or product. THE BEST! Marcia and Bob Gold went to Maui for their 100th wedding anniversary. They look fabulous. What's the secret to their success? "Our longevity is due to our commitment to microwaving every meal in Tupperware containers. We believe the combination of radiation and plastic in our systems has slowed the aging process. Our marriage is still solid because we are both passionate about miniature horses and time travel." Congratulations to the Golds! Last month's joke: Thank you to the Golds for being such good sports. :) Thank you to Victor Gassman (left) and Laurie Williams (right) for sending their self-portraits in. They have been awarded top-secret prizes.
