FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2022 51 As mentioned in last month's article, in order to avoid possible jail time and a hefty fine (ha ha, just kidding!), I had no choice but to reluctantly follow the very strict three-photo rule and only put three in the article from our tennis tournament on Oct. 1. So as not to disappoint, here are a few more for your viewing pleasure. In case your memory is a bit hazy from last month's article, coming in third place in the tournament was Team Randy Haemmerle/Mike Olson, and in fourth place was Team Lou Stokes/Larry Zimmerman. Both these teams battled hard but came up just a smidge short to grab the gold and silver. Nonetheless, congratulations to both teams for a job well done! On a side note, we dared Larry to look a bit cozy in the picture with his partner Lou, and he took the challenge like a man. I think Larry has been in the dog house with his lovely bride Natalie ever since he won the challenge. My garage can fit your sleeping bag, if needed, Larry. Ha ha, not really. Just pulling your leg! All kidding aside, another tennis club member who deserves a lot more recognition than he has received is Howard Levine. In addition to being an avid tennis player, Howard is also very artistically talented. As long as I can remember, he has always voluntarily and generously donated his time and material to make medals and winning prizes for our tournaments. These medals and prizes are always beautiful and tastefully done. Thanks again, Howard, for all your contributions to our club over the years! So, tennis fans, if you want to get your hands on one of these beautiful medals or trophies to set on your mantle and earn your bragging right, watch for and sign up for the next upcoming tournament. These medals/trophies aren't going to mysteriously appear in your living room if you just sit on the sideline. You have to fight for them! Comprende? See you all at The Courts! Our first summer pool party was a great success, and we enjoyed several other pot-luck events during the summer. We had many members who collaborated on ways to put together side lines and end lines. Thanks everyone — great job. We've now ushered in our winter session in the indoor pool at The Summit. Play time remains 11 am to 1 pm, but the days we play have changed. While indoors, we will play on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. All ages, heights, and skill levels are welcome to join us. The depth of the water is a bit shallower at The Summit, and the ball we use indoors is a bit softer than the one used outside. Our winter Christmas Gala Holiday Party sponsored by Power Pros Pest Control is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 11 in the RCN Main Room. Due to the growth of our club, we have designed a set of rules and guidelines, which will enable players of all skill levels to continue to enjoy the pool volleyball experience. In addition, we will begin to collect annual dues, which will enable the club to host a variety of special events throughout the year. Don't be shy, come on out and give pool volleyball a try! We are having a ton of fun. ~ Mel Harkin, odeegos@yahoo.com Water Volleyball Club 4th Place - Larry Zimmerman & Lou Stokes 3rd Place - Randy Haemmerle & Mike Olson Howard Levine in action
