FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | DECEMBER 2022 57 The Fours Seasons Motorcycle Club (MC) is always looking for new members! We ride every Thursday, weather permitting. So if you think joining the MC might be for you, consider joining us on one of our upcoming Thursday rides. We meet up in The Lodge parking lot and depart promptly at 9 am. Our Thursday rides can be as short as 100 miles and sometimes as long as 250 miles (round trip). It just depends on how adventuresome we feel on any given Thursday. Sometimes we just feel like going on a short ride, perhaps to Temecula or up to Angelus Oaks for breakfast. Other times we opt for longer rides like making the loop around the Salton Sea or maybe riding over the Ortega Highway and riding down the coast. The desert is always an option. Regardless of our destination, we are always back home well before dusk. It's getting to be that time of year when rain starts to interfere with our weekly rides. If you are not familiar with the Four Seasons MC, just know that we try to avoid riding when road conditions are potentially too hazardous. In other words, if it's wet out there, we will generally cancel a Thursday ride. Extreme cold weather can interfere with our riding if there is a possibility of road ice, otherwise we just layer up and hit the road. As for your type of ride, we aren't picky. Full touring rigs, cruisers, trikes, adventure bikes and sport bikes are all welcome. As for our riding style, safety is a priority. We ride in a staggered formation, and we do not lane split. In other words, we are all about friendship and safe and sane riding with fellow motorcycle enthusiasts. If you would like to learn more about the MC, you can call Terry Humble, Pres (909-706-2298) or Jim Ayala VP (951-392-6259) or Joe Bert, Sec (909-767-1484). ~ Jim Ayala The e-Bike Club will not be meeting in December. As a new club, we aren't quite ready to host an exciting holiday event. But there is always next year. Just a little information about what is an e-bike. Legally there are three classes I, II and III (of course). Class 1 e-bikes require pedaling for you to move forward. The electrical system can only be activated through the act of pedaling. In the U.S., the allowed maximum speed is 20 mph. No driver's license is required and there is no age limit. Class 2 e-bikes are operated by a throttle. They are equipped with a throttle element which can be a grip twist, lever, or button. When the throttle is engaged the motor kicks to power the e-bike. These e-bikes are also subject to a maximum speed of 20 mph. No driver's license is required and there is no age limit. Most e-bikes in the U.S. have both pedal assist and a throttle, they are still classified as Class 2 e-bikes. Class 3 e-bikes require pedaling and may not have a throttle unless the throttle does not engage until the pedal assist is engaged at the same time. The maximum speed is 28 mph. In most of Europe these are classified as motor vehicles and a driver's license is required to operate one. California e-bike laws do not require a license to operate any class of e-bikes. Persons under 16 are required to wear a helmet and all passengers under 16 must also wear a helmet. All e-bike riders are subject to the same rules and regulations that apply to riders of traditional bicycles. E-bikes may have two or three wheels and must have fully functioning pedals. There are e-bike tricycles that will accommodate people who may not feel stable on a two-wheel e-bike. What now? Please email your contact information to Steve Cooley at cooleyaudit@gmail.com. Please include what if any support you can provide the club including willingness to serve as an officer and/ or ride planning and coordination. ~ Steve Cooley, cooleyaudit@ gmail.com Motorcycle Club e-Bike Club Taking a much needed break on the Arizona White Mountain ride Terry Humble and Jim Ayala entering the Arizona Casa Grande Ruins
