8 | LIFE IN SOLERA | JANUARY 2023 | ENFORCEMENT INSPECTIONS are a necessary part of our normal management services that we provide Solera. Although it is just one of the many services we perform for your community, it's certainly a main focus for several homeowners. It's understandable why. Many homeowners can be surprised that they received a compliance violation, and others can be frustrated on why they are being informed to correct something on their home. Please note, that Management is enforcing the association documents, including the Rules and Regulations, the Design Review Guidelines and the CC&Rs for Solera by conducting weekly inspections. If you receive a compliance violation, you have 14-days to correct the issue and if you comply, the violation will be closed. CALLING ALL SISTERS LIVING IN SOLERA! We have heard that there are many of you out there and we are requesting submissions about what you like about living in the same community as your sister. Please send submissions to vctrhvlnd@gmail.com with the subject line: Sisters. After the first of the year, we would like to do a photo of all the sisters who live in Solera so stay tuned for that date! Anyone who would like to submit a comment about living in the same community as her sister, but does not do email, may drop off a typewritten sheet with their comments to Victoria at the front office. SHOPPING SCAMS When shopping online during the holiday season — or any time of year — always be wary of deals that seem too good to be true. Do your part to avoid becoming a scammer's next victim. News Bits This & That Ever wonder why angels are pictured with halos? Long before the birth of Christ, sun worshipers wore rings of feathers on their heads, presumably to represent rays of sunlight and identify the wearer with the sun god. It is believed that this led to the idea of depicting divine beings with circles of light about their head. It is also probable that this led kings and queens to wear crowns. New Year's Eve in Brazil, most residents wear WHITE clothes in honor of their New Year and some even go into the ocean and jump up in seven waves in their white clothes for good fortune. While in Switzerland, they drop ICE CREAM on the floor at midnight for good luck and wealth. I always wondered what the job application is like at Hooters… do they just give you a bra and say, "here, fill this out?" At my age, "getting lucky" means walking into a room and remembering why I came in there. Ever wonder why stop signs are red? While yellow is the most visible color in the spectrum, red is the most exciting. The color red elevates the blood pressure, increases the pulse rate, and heightens nervous tension. This makes red the color most likely to attract human attention, and this is exactly what is needed for stop signs. It has been speculated that the color red has this effect because it is the color of human blood. Humans have been conditioned over millions of years to react strongly to the sight of blood as a sign that something is very wrong. Sliced bread – Otto Fredrick Rohwedder was the first person to sell sliced bread and he did it in America in 1928, in Davenport, Iowa. In 1912, Otto invented the single loaf bread slicing machine, which was the first in the world. He marketed his invention as the single greatest advancement in the baking industry, since they started wrapping bread, and he was right, because we term great ideas these days as "the greatest thing since sliced bread." Advice from a Banana… Just because someone calls you "yella," it doesn't mean you're a coward. Life's little surprises are what make it so "apeeling" and friends are always better by the bunch. Why do you need hugs every day? To boost self-esteem, strengthens the immune system and they just FEEL GOOD. Submitted by The Solera Ghostwriters
