| THE COLONY NEWS | JANUARY 2023 | 31 To all of our watercolorists, both beginners and seasoned painters, our subject for our Jan. 26 Watercolor Class will be a landscape. I will be using various colors of blues. This painting will be quite dramatic using light blues to very intense darks in a wet on wet, and with a wet on dry technique. You may choose another color if blue is not to your liking. Betty Pilley, our award-winning instructor, will return for another workshop in February. More information on this workshop will be forthcoming in the February Colony News. I also hope to have our local award-winning instructor/demonstrator, Susan Keith, for a workshop later in the year. Susan has performed workshops here in The Colony in the past. Happy New Year everyone. I am looking forward to seeing all of you in our January 2023 watercolor class. A great year of painting is in the planning for all of you. Happy New Year! Watercolor Classes By Sylvia Maxwell, 818-667-1766 Our featured Artist for the Month of January 2023 is Fine Art Photographer Nancy Roux. This is Nancy's second exhibit in our beautiful Clubhouse Lobby. Nancy is from Providence, Rhode Island and moved to Southern California in 1983. She has a Bachelors Degree in Studio Art. She has exhibited her work at numerous prestigious Southern California fine art shows, including Laguna Art-A-Fair, one of three iconic Laguna Beach Festivals. In her seven years with the show, Nancy received three back-to-back Artists Choice awards, served as a juror, and has represented the festival in local radio interviews. In 2015, her work was selected to represent Laguna's Art-A-Fair in a prestigious Orange County Magazine feature.
