Jack & Jill By Dennis Murphy, 951-461-0457 The Nov. 10 Tournament turned out to be a very wet one. After three consecutive days of rain, the participants were challenged by a slick and damp course. Eleven teams of foursomes tried as best they could to keep their heads down and feet firmly on the turf to make those memorable shots from tee to green. Final scores would indicate that it was a real challenge for sure. When the RANDOM DRAW competition was over on this cool day in November the following emerged at the top of the heap: Winning Teams 1st, 49.612: Ken Kawamura, Linda Peterson, Dan and Sheryl Beamish 2nd, 49.995: Sam Currie, Carol Winnard, Leo Pasco and Peggy Clendenen 3rd, 50.240: Bruce and Lori Dalfonso, Ed King and Barbara Keen 4th, 50.449: Bob Miller, Billie Denney, Terry Lundquist and Sue Jordan Closest to the Pin #5: Women, Billie Denney – 24'11" / Men, Joe Cwirka – 15'11" #15: Women, Paula Thompson – 14'4" / Men, Bob Miller – 5'6" #16: Team #11 Sam Currie, Carol Winnard, Leo Pasco and Peggy Clendenen – 15' DARWIN AWARDS: Teams - 1A through 10 Issue: After the rules of play suggested to, "keep carts on cart paths and stay off the fairways throughout the tournament. I noted many twosomes on the fairways and started to compile a list. The list was getting far too long … so I have lumped the J&J Tournament Players of Nov. 10 as co-equal winners of the Darwin. Our next contest will be Thursday, Jan. 12 and will be our venue, "Regular Scramble" in which we will Tee Off our 2023 season. As with all Jack and Jill events you DO NOT have to be a member of either the Men's or Women's Golf Clubs to play. Just pick up your sticks and join us for the fun and friendly competition. See ya on the links! I hope everyone had a very Happy New Year. The Bocce court has been repaired so come out on Thursdays from 2 to 4 pm to play, learn to play or just socialize and meet some nice friendly people. Just bring your snacks, your choice of beverage and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow Colonites. Water and ice are always provided. Bocce By Jeanne Bender, 949-295-5412 | THE COLONY NEWS | JANUARY 2023 | 37 Farewell By Ann Carter, Personal Trainer and Colony Aerobics Instructor It has been over 20 years I've had the privilege to teach the aerobic classes at the Colony. I have always referred to all of you as my ladies and gentlemen because that is what you are. You have also been my friends. I have been the recipient of lots of confidences, much laughter, a few tears, but also many, many great friendships! It is so hard to say goodbye to something I love, but it is time to start a new chapter in my life. My husband and I want to travel and for years I've been telling him I can't go that often… "I have my work!" He's always been great about it but now it's time I'm there for him. It is with tears in my eyes that I say goodbye and thank you! I will always love my wonderful ladies and gentlemen. By the way - just cuz I'm leaving doesn't mean you all can stop working out! I expect all of you to continue!! Daniella is an amazing person - give her a chance. She's nowhere near as bossy as me!
