There has been a change in plans for February's Mardi Gras Party. In an effort to maintain costs and putting on a well-orchestrated event, the decision is to use the Mardi Gras theme for the 2023 New Year's Celebration. So, now you really have some time to get your "mask" together. Here is a scary thought: SCE has decided to make it an annual event and pull the power every Thanksgiving. How was your thanksgiving dinner? We had 16 family and friends gather to share a Thanksgiving dinner together, and be thankful for many good reasons. We lost power but folks still arrived after the power was lost. Without electrical power we had no network capabilities, no television, and no football/basketball games. No internet means no electronic games for the grandkids, and no Google for the correct answers, no news blast, and no scores. So, among the dimly lit candles and battery powered camping lights we sat, had a wonderful dinner and carried on a "conversation" among ourselves. In other words, it was a "perfect" Thanksgiving. Happy New Year! Social Committee Facilities Committee The Facilities Committee hopes that you had a great holiday season and you are looking forward to another new year. In previous articles, they listed the many projects that were recommended to be repaired or purchased to our Board for consideration and we are proud of the work that so many helped to help make those changes. Each committee member is given a month to inspect and reports a specific list that they are given to inspect. We revised the Maintenance Guide last year to better suit the inspection. We also now have imported digital images into the inspection to see a problem is a great asset to the inspection. Once items have been identified it is reported to the committee where they can spend many hours finding a solution. Sometimes it's a simple repair a work order is generated and maintenance will take care of it and sometimes we need to replace or update to something newer. It is always decided with how much is it going to cost and finding the best way to get the job done. We are always open for suggestions from our residents and you can do it very easily by filling out a resident communication form. Be patient, sometimes it takes time to get through th proper channels and trying to find the best solution can take several meetings before we have decided what to do. We also thank the many residents who have had suggestions and proposed some very good ideas.
